best ice fishing gloves

Go with the cotton/wool half-finger with flip over mitt. Keep them out of the water and snow though.

Thats what I roll with as well. Don't have to take the gloves off to handle fish, unhook fish, or rebait , just flip over the mitt.

I keep one set of gloves (or mittens) to each pair of pockets in my outerwear -- ice armor, saranac, choppers, whatever -- and switch them out as the get damp from baiting up and unhooking fish. As far as operating a reel goes, I've extended all my reel handles. Even big mittens aren't a problem.

I have some skin tight gloves I found at GM that I use inside the portable. Great for rebaiting and I can even tie knots with them if I have to. Outside, I use the wool flipover chops, as long as I am not reaching down and pulling pike from the water.

Anyone ever try the Seirus All Weather Gloves (sold at FF) for ice fishing?? It says it is water proof and breathable.

I have the Ice Armor gloves. Work well cause I can use them to keep hands warm outdoors and small enought to operate my reel. But the plams ice up and they don't breath well (so hands sweat).

I need something that I can stick in the water or handle fish for those cold days. Wet hands in very cold conditions ... not good eek

I use the cut off finger/flip over mitten style. Very effective for fishing outside.

I have a pair of the ice armor finger style gloves. All I can say is they claim to be water proof and yet the soak up water better than a sponge. I'm not impressed with them at all and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone that is actually going to use them ice fishing. I give it to their marketing team though, they got me to spend my money on IMO one of the worst gloves made.

I never wear anything on my hands just because you will miss the light bites. When I had to fish outside because of a lack of shelter I would put a single mantle Colemen in a bucket and put in between my legs and then I would jig over the heat that was rising. Now days if it that cold I just get in my Otter. It just makes sense that if you are going to spend your money on a good graphite rod so it can be as sensitive as possible and then you put on a pair of gloves and lose that sensitivity.
