Hammer Handle
You just don't get that it doesn't matter if he puts up exceptional numbers now, it won't changed the fact that he was terrible earlier this year and slightly less than average last year.Without Gus, we would not be in the playoffs.T-Jack could not see the field, only one receiver. He must have learned sitting on the bench, for now he sees the field better.

lawdog
TJack 8 of 9 in the 4th quarter and leads us to the playoffs. I'll hang up and listen. I'm not a basher, and actually thought since he returned he's played very well. Yesterday really wasn't that good though. The INT in the endzone was hideous, he stared at that route the entire play from the snap to the INT. Then he horribly mismanaged the clock and very nearly cost us a chance at that field goal.Like I said he's been better since he came back, but I wouldn't say much good about yesterday (although he did make some nice passes too, I just think overall his game management regressed again). fishin58
I would put the time issue on Chili, the int was not a good throw. One pick for 4 games. Not too bad vs the Gus-buster. He was not TERRIBLE earlier this year. Go back and watch the games!! He made plays in both games, at Lamb*(* = tough enviroment. Indy a great team. Also has been stated in the past but for those with selective memory, do you remember the drops. Take Arizona for example: say Wade drops that ball on 3rd down and we have to punt. Do you football minds think that affects that whole game? Say the rocket to Sid the Kid bounces off his chest and HOOD brings it back to the house, does that change the game??? That is the stuff that happened those first 2 games. Any GIVEN Sunday anything can happen. It is just a matter of how the ball bounces. Dave S
The time management is completely on Childress for failing to get a play into Jackson. That's what the hold up was.

He wasn't great yesterday, that's for sure. But he didn't loose it either. It will be interesting to see what he does in the playoffs if he folds like a paper cup or not. No crow here, he sucked at the beginning of the season. He may prove to be a servicable QB, but I'm still not on the bandwagon that he has proven anything. He hasn't blown doors off on a consistant basis. One very good game so far, the rest were just OK.
PierBridge
Gus Frerotte.... 12 TD passes 15 Interceptions QB Rating 70 Tavaris Jackson 9 TD passes 2 Interceptions QB Rating
Sandmannd
How about stats that really matter? Gus 1 loss, T-jack 3 losses. As far as sacks, how many games have they each played. Jack is more mobile that's for sure. But I'll stand by saying Gus saved the year and got them to the playoff race.
Dave S
And if any of you were in Jacksons place at the beginning of the season with an infant son who just received a pace-maker, you could stay composed on the field? Jackson maybe shouldn't have started the season. But he sure has finished it well.
Sandmannd
I won't put him down for that. Non the less, he was not good. Maybe he should have taken the first few weeks off to be with him. That's what I would have done at my job. If you can't concentrate then he shouldn't have been on the field. I won't blame him for that, I wouldn't be able to concentrate. Heck I wouldn't have left my kids bed side. I don't think anyone would have held time off for that against him.

OLY
Sometimes I swear it is like reasoning with a child with some of you guys. TJack could lead us to the superbowl and people would still be hating on him, and giving Gus props for doing such a great job only losing one game. If it wasnt for our defensive play and AP everyone would be blaming Gus right now for our 7-9 record.
Sandmannd
I don't hate on him, I just don't see him as being a long term QB here. I'd love to be proven wrong but he hasn't done enough to prove that yet.
koonie
I'll stay out this time and wait until week 16 next year. If he can prove it for a full season I'll eat the crow on video and post it on here.
fishin58
Matt Birk even said last night T Jack is playing great and he was asked about early struggles and Birk eluded to thee preseason injury vs the Ravens.
Hammer Handle
I don't hate T-Jack either. He is a good player and seems like a nice guy. But, he didn't play well at the beginning of the year. No ifs ands or buts about it. What was his QB rating the first two games? Now he is playing better and looking at the field better. Good for him and us. He is the starter now, and should be. Earlier, it was the RIGHT decision to pull him and put Gus in.

PierBridge
Quote: What was his QB rating the first two games? Glad you asked.... After being injured in pre-season and missing 4 weeks of a play T-Jack's QB rating for the Green Bay game in Lambeau Field was 59 or 5 points higher than Gus's QB rating of 53.9 against the same Packer team on our HOME FIELD. ....smirk! Game 2 T-Jacks QB rating was 73 or the equivalent of Gus's career or Season "2008" QB rating of 73.6 and 74 "career" Not that were going to change any minds here T-Jack also has a BETTER Career QB rating than Gus has. Keep the questions coming..
FISHINGURU
ok...how can you be proud to compare stats to an old qb that has never been a quality starter in so many years in the league?
Hammer Handle
See, T-Jacks ratings were poor, thanks for pointing that out. And, he lost both games.Gus was brought in and, even though he is NOT a good QB, he won games and opened the playbook more than "I only see one receiver" T-Jack.T-Jack must have learned on the bench and in practice, for he is better now (it appears). So, I eat no crow. Looks like others do. (I love these threads). The facts: Gus won games. Not pretty, but he won. T-Jack was not playing great, and was losing. After being benched, he looks better. Is Gus a QB that deserves to be a starter? No.Is T-Jack? Currently, yes. But not earlier this year. This is not about comparing the two QBs ratings...it is whether or not T-Jack played great to start the year. He did not. Gus was not that hot either, but he won and earned the starting spot. Now, T-Jack earned his starting spot back.
