Well It took me a while and Im not real happy with them.

Just learning to free hand feathers with the air brush on flocking..Its actually a lot quicker than messing with stencils..

Fully Flocked, vac bottoms average 22" long..

Made 12 for walking in...

The drake bill glow in the pics.

Well with one of my many hats requireing me to drop what I am working on and run deliveries daily to help the wife...

I figured time to carve some more heads and redo a few burned out molds...

So heres the new ones.. Hooded,Buff and Redheads...

IMG_3028.jpg

With the redos and tweeks on last years I put up 13 new molds and have casted about a 100 new heads. Looking to build 150-200 decoys this years...

Amazed at how many sold as decorations/mantle pieces out of the flower shop window...

Also started on FB Mallard Woodies and more goldeneyes

Mutha -

Seeing your decoys makes me want to try a few. But the artistic value in yours is darn impressive so I know I'd be dissappointed. I made some crude ones about 15 years ago out of pink sheets of foam insulation and wrapped them in burlap. They work just fine and have been shot up but are still kicking after a few repaints. I'm wondering if you've been happy with the durability on yours and if the paint has held up well. I don't mind repainting already ugly stuff but I'd be scared of scuffing up your pretty birds!!

Please keep sharing your pix with us.

I flock'em and then paint in detail....

Actually very durable compared to a commercially painted decoys..

I treat mine rougher than most guys treat thier plastics...They get dragged down the shoreline tossed in the boat just like anything else..

BUT slap'm em with a load of #2's they aint sinking which is why I got into making my own.R&D..

Mutha,

I'd seriously sell all of my decoys for just a dozen of yours. I'd take quality over quantity any day of the week, especially here in Nodak. Any of your dekes for sale?! You can PM me if you'd rather do that.

Thanks,

Tyler

I painted my Gold Camo as it was starting to look a bit beat up (I'll try to post pix tonight). I must have done a decent job cause my bro "comissioned" me to do the same with his - I have no artistic talent but it was fun to do.

I'm also going to build a boat - one of those 8 foot long hyrbrids that are light and easy to carry. Even though we have a couple Carsten puddlers it would be nice to have a light little boat that you can put a motor on. I may even convert an old weedwhip into a small mud motor. I've already done repaints on about 10 dozen diver decoys so I need to find something else to do to kill time until musky season.
