Fall Reports 08

Recommended Posts

Hey all, busy weekend here. I fished sat and sunday up the Salmon River. I was in a little floatfishing-centerpin tournament heald buy a guy on another site I frequent on sat. 26 folks signd up and names were drawn to fish in 2 man teams from daybreak till 5pm. Lenght and girth were measured, a photo taken then all fish were released. It was a very fun get together and a great way to meet people and put faces to names. The weather on sat was horrible, it rained all morning and untill 1ish. We fished hard and put some fish on the bank but lost more. Plenty of chrome in the river but very fresh and fiesty combined with high water made landing them a challenge. The winning fish was a pig at 18 pounds! We all had a nice get together with food and drink fest after fishing that was a hoot. Sunday the weather was better but the landing not much better. But we did bank some fish. I lost a hog that im sure was in the teens.

Timmy - Im pretty sure I saw Bruce float by me sunday with some clients. But he was by me before I could yell anything. The river was disgusting with people, a firm reminder why some should not breed...

Tanks been hunting a little lately looking to fill a doe tag. The other day he saw 5 diff bucks. Tonite he called me that he had just shot a doe and he thinks shes down. I left work and by the time I got home he had already found her...

I must be good luck he shot that not too long after I was on the phone with him. Way to go Tank! Todd said the east end was on fire tonight, go figure. Can't wait to get this knee taken care of tomorrow. Jay I talked to Bruce the other day and he wanted to know if the walleye bite was on yet, funny..

Otis, looks like my post didn't make it for some reason so I'll edit it. Sorry, no molds to share. Timmy, good luck with the knee! I'm sure you'll be making it strong in no time. If you need anything, give me a holler. Tank, nice job!! Barely shot my bow this year. Had a little accident with a miter saw and had to heal. Always check what your standing on before operating power equipment! Just another scar for the collection is all.

Thanks Ray... Got the knee all cleaned out this afternoon and starting my recovery, it's gonna be quick too seeing that the east end slaughter has begun. Frank went back down to the confessional this evening. Thanks for the support guys and I'll be through this thing soon when we start really rolling in the eyes and the ice. Looking forward to another great ice season with the gang. All this time at home means only one thing and that'sice jig buying time, not that I need more but that I love getting packages in the mail.

Went to Fremack's Marina with a friend that keeps his boat there and we finished up in 15 minutes. We got there just in time to get a limit each, then the school moved on. It didn't matter what color stick bait you were using.

I'm heading down to the canal tonight to see how things are there.

Opening day of our gun season today and it was miserable. Rain started at daybreak and maybe stopped a time or two briefly all day. Steady and heavy at times with some wind in the afternoon. I was lucky, I didnt have to sit all day in it as I shot a small buck shortly after daybreak. Tank on the otherhand gets the crazyaward. He left the woods at noon to get on dry cloths and shovel in some hot food. Besides that he was in his stand all day with nothing but wet to show for it. Thank god for gore-tex...

Anyone else get out and enjoy the weather?

Very nice buck Lee!

Tank hunted all morning and only saw one doe. I got out of work at 130 in time to drop him off at his stand and grab my bow in hopes of filling a doe tag with that. Wasn't set up a half hour and I heard him shoot. He wasnt too confident on the cell but found this 7 pt after a hundred yards...

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
