treble
I cannot believe how many Vikes "fans" say how they would love to have BRETT FAVRE play for us. We are of the few people in the world to have watched Favre objectively over the last 15 or so years. We havent sat there and overlooked his many flaws and forgiven him for his countless mistakes game in and game out. Yes, he had a good season last year, good for him. Do you really think that he can walk in to Minnesota, a month and a half before the season starts, learn a whole new offense, something he hasnt had to do for years, and take us immediately to the Super Bowl? Do you really think that he will repeat his performance of last year? Did we forget about HIM losing the game on LAMBEAU FIELD in DECEMBER where he is supposed to be invincable?I, for one, might just move to the mountains for the next 6 months if the Vikes decide to bring him here. Badger
Quote:What do the Packer fans on this board really think of this whole deal? In all honesty, I'm embarrased for Favre and sad for the Packers. IMO, the Packers are doing the right thing. Favre said he was done, and the Pack moved on.I think Favre is doing a giant disservice to himself, his legacy and the Pack by doing these interviews and cracking his jokes at the ESPY's last night. I could have dealt with another year of not knowing until May or June (whether he was going to retire or not), but HE made the choice to end it and the Packers are looking to the future.I think it's today (may be this weekend) that Favre will be in Green Bay to speak on Frank Winter's entry into the Packer's HOF. It will be interesting to see how he is received and if he uses that platform to plead his case.I'm a Packer fan first and foremost, and I'm siding with the team on this one...... shiner2367 I agree with everything you said in this post. It's time to move on.

tisosy11
Obviously they can trade him to a team of their choice, but who's to say that team won't turn around to trade him. The value automatically goes up if they want to trade him again.Maybe Favre will come here and back up T-Jack? Plus JDB already has his number...I wonder what his second choice would be...http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/favre_announces_he_will
Outfitter17
Doesn't farve have a no trade clause, so he wouldn't be going to a team he isn't interested in playing for?

I think as part of the trade deal Packers could state that the team getting Favre are not allowed to trade him to certain teams for a certain amount of time. Otherwise it would make your scenario too easy for a central division team to try and back door Favre that way. I could be wrong though, just what I thought I have heard before. tisosy11
Farve does have to OK the trade i believe and I don't think he is going to OK a trade that doesn't end him on a contender. There is no real way to stop the new team from backdoor favre around. I don't think anyways.
mnwild
Just read that Favre called Thompson the other day and said he is reporting to camp Saturday. So what does this mean for the organization?? Will Brett be the starter opening day?? Will he be traded?? This is going to get good.
Wadinator
Just read an article in the Mankato Free Press online: "...Vikings safety and former Packer Darren Sharper was on the sidelines when a fan shouted: “Get on a cell phone and call Brett (Favre).” Sharper, who is in his fourth season with the Vikings, didn’t turn around, but he held up his arm and wagged his finger...." Atta boy, Sharper! (Hope it was his middle-finger)

PierBridge
Could be the packers say they have phone records of Favor consulting Bill Clinton on this matter also! Sounds like the Packers may be willing to take Farve back! In which case I'll hate on him again!
mnwild
Sounds like Favre's only option is going to be backing up Rodgers the way things sound. If that were the case how many games until the fans boo Rodgers so they can see Favre behind center taking snaps..

DinkADunk
I think that the Vikes or Bears should pull off a double trade just to peeoff the Packers. Let Tampa, Jets, or whomever make a trade for Favre and then the Vikes or Bears make a trade for him. It would make Green Bay nuts

Could be wrong, but I thought I remember hearing something like this.
ozzie
Yeah if he is traded they stated that the Packers could instill a contract "pill" that would have repercusoins if he was traded to certain teams or in a certain time frame......i.e Steve Hutchinson contract
treble
He sent in his letter of reinstatement. Awesome. I hope the Packers keep him and make him back up Rodgers. This rocks.

Sandmannd
That would rock to see the Packers having a $12,000,000 clip board holder Do you think he'd cry holding a clipboard when Rogers throws a pick like he did when he threw picks?
LMITOUT
That would rock to see the Packers having a $12,000,000 clip board holder I know how you feel. It makes me giddy to see the Vikings with a $366,000 QB that SHOULD be a clipboard holder.
caseymcq
That would rock to see the Packers having a $12,000,000 clip board holder If it doesn't pan out for Brett I'll hold the clipboard for Rodgers for a third of that(gas money for the trips back and forth from Babbitt to GB) and promise to stay retired next year
