Musky Buck
I hope that isn't how his life ended, sad if true.
jkcmj
I know the city allows private land owners in the city limits to deer hunt their woods, which is good since half of our 160 acre farm is in city limits, but it sure allows easy kill of the acclimated deer in the residential zones. When Cedar Rapids, IA opened up the city limits a couple years ago it ruined the shed hunting in the areas I used to get antlers. Everyone knew where the bucks were feeding and the small woodlots they were bedding and they were easy pickings with most of the big ones disappearing that 1st season. Here is a nice set I found in the city woods before it opened to hunting.

Musky Buck
Pretty neat, I absolutely love shed hunting and the exercise that goes with it, great find !
bela0023
Here's a little bigger pic. Yep, I've still got my buck tag and will be out there tomorrow to see if I can have a personal meeting with this buck! It's too bad in the photo, no matter how much this picture is blown up his tines blend in with the tree line in the background. I can tell he's got good mass, but no idea about his tines. That's ok, it leaves a little mystery.
sticknstring
Nice. He's got good main beams for sure. Good luck with him. Here's one that came in the day after thanksgiving checking a mock scrape. He put some miles on in Nov, notice how lean he is. It's the first time we've seen him. There's a ground blind about 20 yds behind him that was unoccupied that night
96trigger
I was amazed at how quickly the deer lost the swelling in the neck and how lean they got so shortly after the rut. Almost all the bucks shot during 3B down here were lean.
sticknstring
The 8 pointer I saw in Sherburne on Sat was still swelled up pretty good. He was dogging a group of doe/fawn tracks through the snow. If we get a tough winter which it's shaping up like, bucks like the one I posted are going to have a tough time. Musky Buck
Interesting, the last 2-3 years the bucks are group have taken and others I've seen in our area haven't had the traditional thick pudgy neck, Nov. 9th I took a buck, 3 1/2 year old and his neck was nothing. Is I doubt it but is something going on maybe with the rut and rutting activity ?
Musky Buck
Hey I finally have my t-cam pics emailed to me by a friend, I could send them your way if you'd post them. I deleted some unworthy shots. Coons, blurry photo's, and left the buck ones.

sticknstring
I made it up north to check feeders and cams. Looks like the deer found them alright but the batteries only made it 2 weeks. Batteries and sub-zero days don't mix very well. At first I thought I had all does & fawns but this fella had both sides dropped by the 28th. Also a doe prior to sunset. I didn't look for any sheds... pretty tough with 18" of snow.
