The bird didn't provide a very good composition,so I'm just posting these so we can check it for mites.

You certainly had to be pushing the minimum focal distance on these. I took some shots of Cedar Waxwings today (which are much bigger) and I was pretty close and still didn't fill the frame with them the way you did on these. Nice work getting close!
