Eric Wettschreck
Thanks for the compliments fellas. With any luck she'll have sea trials today after work. I thought maybe I'd get it wet yesterday, but friends kept showing up, and one thing led to another, and boat work stopped.
davesfriend
Boilerguy, not to hilack this thread but you probably have a good idea where to get stuff buy now. I need a replacement fuel gauge on my boat. I think the hail storm took it out. In your opinion where should I look? Cheap is king but I still want some quality. Thanks, and AWSOME job on the boat!! Valv
Boilerguy, I hate to tell you this but you won't believe what I've got yesterday. Let's say all the parts to rebuild your boats are here....a little late for you, sorry.
Eric Wettschreck
Well Valv, now that you mention it, I still need a decent windshield. I have no clue when I'll be in your area tho.Good news and bad news guys..........I got it wet yesterday. It felt really good to be back on the lake. Now the bad news, as I was coming back I looked back at the motor and noticed there was no water coming out the pee hole, and I shut it down. OK, I need a water pump, no big deal. However, nothing on the motor electric works now. No tilt, no ignition, heck when I turn the key not even a click. The batteries are good as all the accessories work. The connections are good. I'm stumped.Motors got good compression so I know I didn't melt it. This electrical thing has me very confused. I'm open for any and all suggestions on what to check. Surface Tension
Take the cover off. Theres a black rubber shroud with a fuse, lower left rear. Unplug the main wiring harness at the engine. Might have come loose during the restoration work or just corroded. Check the + and - cable connections in the engine. Might as well have a look at the connection at the controls too.Might be heat related, melted insulation, or connection came loose.
Valv
Hmmm, no power on motor at landing... does this remind you of somebody Frank ??? I remember a guy that had same issue on his Lund cuddy at a landing in Superior few years back. I better shut up about this, I haven't fixed the problem yet (a loose main harness connector)

Eric Wettschreck
With the exception of a few small items, I'm chalking this job up as done. I still need to get to Valv's place and hopefully get a windshield, mount some rod holders, and anyone who knows anything about me shoud realize I roll with about 47 cupholders. Remodel is done. Here's a shot of the aft section with the small casting deck. I built it so the deck flips up and gets bigger if someone is actually standing on it casting. You can't see it, but under that deck there is a Pro-marine on board charger. Here's a shot I took standing on the aft casting deck. Finished forward deck. Live well with my home made added in bait well. A top quality Soderbloom prop rebuild. The grand total, not counting PBR and parts I had laying around is right around 500 American dolllars. Things I've realized; 1. This job took way too long. 2. This should have been a winter job. 3. My boat needs a paint job that prolly isn't going to happen. 4. I'm glad I'm a boilermaker and not a carpet layer cuz I suck at it. 5. Never again. 6. A whole lot of PBR was invested into this project. Re-model is over, now I'm on to motor repairs. I found the fuse ST was talking about. All this work I've done and I never knew that little devil was in there. I put in a new one, and have power again. For the life of me, however, I can't find a reason why it popped. All connections look good, I can't find a short anywhere, insulation on everything looks buffy.........I'm perplexed. The water pump is done. I'll have to get to a shop in the next couple days and get a new one. Thanks go out to PBR, every tool ever made, Miller Welders, Lots of stuff I had laying around that I knew someday I'd use, my neighbor Tom, and all of yous guys for the quality advice. Valv
BTW I am holding 2 windshields just for you, they are nice, you will be happy with either or, just different size. Now, the PBR. I only have a brand which is made in Chippewa Falls, if you are against that let me know....I also have Mountain Dew or Diet Sprite (actually I have Diet Heehaw, and Diet Sams Choice)
Surface Tension
Looks good Eric and I like the flip up for the rear casting deck. Next a coat of paint. The fuse, could be a sign the starter is on its way out. Carry a couple spares and see what happens.

Eric Wettschreck
Yes, those are LED rope lights. I have some in the aft section also. This motor is driving me into the nut house. It starts and idles great, open it up and it bogs badly. Compression in all 3 cylinders is good. I have no clue what to do anymore.
davesfriend
Carburated right? Sounds like it needs cleanin or something. My fourwheeler did that too. I drained the float bowl and no problem since. You don't have a float bowl though, do you? I am stumped.
