LOL @ Ted Nuge! Glad you like it, can you help me in talking my wife into a bigger boat, because it all doesnt fit!

The good news is.. on most days you can predict which lures you will end up using.. and then you grab what you need and put it in the boat for that day. I currently have a Triton 186 PDC and can hold probably 25 of those style boxes in the dry storage along with all the other needs.

I also have another storage unit like those 2, that hold terminal tackle(bulk hooks, sinkers, cranks, extra reels, spinnerbaits, ect... )

Then there is walleye gear, pike/muskie gear. Yikes, its a good thing that fishing is my only real hitch... Scratch that.. you should see my archery collection. Good thing I dont have any kids!

Yeah, you could have a real mess with all those sharps in the garage. I have been teaching Hunter for the last couple months about hooks and how they are sharp and all. At 21 months, he is all over the house and hard to keep up with most of the time. I have a few lures that I keep around to teach him, but he has figured out how to open up the tackle bag, and where I hide stuff in the house over the winter. For teaching kids about hooks, use musky baits, big hooks and the barbs are usually pretty far back if there are barbs at all. They know it is biting them far before they get to the barb. And no, I am not trying to catch my kid, just trying to teach him that hooks are sharp. He already knows the names of most of the baits and lures so he is on his way. Sad thing is, he knows more fishing related words than all the others combined.

You should see this kid with a baitcaster. whistle.gif

I am going to start an inventory of all my baits here in the next week or so to try and get a handle on what I have and need. Always more needs than haves though.

DD: Sick and wrong...... How many lines in the water at one time? One last time I checked..... Still, there's a part of me that wants to tip my hat to you and High Five ya! At least a full muskie box for me is 8 or 10 baits, not 200 plastics!

RK: You need to reflect back on you comments on top 5 muskie baits when you say you have a hard time getting up to 5, not down to 5! When you come to grips with your personal overstock and decide to have a sale my contact info is chris.haider@.........

Adam: I know I told you to replace 75% of your Plano boxes with the 3701 boxes. They are 1 3/8" rather than 2" thick. Granted, some of your baits won't fit into these thinner boxes, but you'll be amazed at what will, and this means, you can fit more boxes in your tackle bag.

Dietz, Can't thank you enough for the pic's. It has helped me prove to my wife that things aren't so bad in our garage \:\)

What made it better is that your bins and boxes of plastics looks incredibly similar to the piles of scrapbooking supplies my wife has! And let me tell you, I'd encourage anyone to get their spouse into scrapbooking! They go on 1-2 day retreats with friends (aka fishing weekend) and every week they buy piles of supplies (if she can, than I can too). I suppose the other benefit would be the neat books of family pictures - but that is kind of irrelevent in an "eye for an eye" hobby management plan.

Again thanks Deitz. Your pics have given me the courage to get permission for Thornes anniversary sale ths weekend!!

Please don't bring muskie lures into the discussion \:o I'm sure I have a couple thousand by now. In my defense, I've been at it a while, and muskie lures tend to last a little longer than soft plastics... Still, it's pretty obnoxious. They're hanging from the floor joists in my basement office, and I have an ever-growing heap in the corner of my office that is the 'bin of shame' for baits that didn't make the grade. Bad part about muskie lures is it's a LOT harder to hide a dozen muskie lures than it is a dozen 3" tubes! Fortunately the BOSS is into fishing too and isn't shy about 'claiming' stuff she likes (last spring she found a new reel on the counter, picked it up, turned it over a few times, and said "Mine." I never did get to use the thing... cry.gif ) So she puts up with it...

Cheers,

Rob Kimm
