Here is my Merriam. The only scale we had was a bathroom. When we got there I realized my digital only went to 20lbs. So we used the bathroom scale. We zeroed it with the bucket and put the bird in it. We did it three times and got the same. I also have a pic with the bird and bucket going staight on and it said 22 lbs. I can post that too if any questions on the weight. Final tallies 21 lbs, 8 1/4 inch beard, 1 3/16, and 1 inch spurs. And story will be posted in Jakes or Better.

Shot my Wisconsin bird yesterday morning, second day of the hunt.

DonBo, team# 3, Tom Terminators.

First morning set up was kinda dissapointing, saw a couple hens and only heard mimimal gobbling, none close. We were walking into another area to set up for the second morning when we heard a gobble not far away. Got my buddy Dave set up near a field edge and I made some calls. He responded but wasn't getting closer. I moved about 50 yards into the woods and called again. Finally saw Dave get his gun up so I called again and BOOM! 11am. grin.gif His was 23 1/2 lbs, 9" beard, 1" spurs. We hunted elsewhere the rest of the day without much sucess.

Second morning we were set up same spot Dave shot his. Much more gobbling than day one. Also heard lots of hens. Saw a flock of about 8 jakes, a couple other jakes and 2 or 3 hens with no company. confused.gif Because of all the competition I was calling pretty agressively all morning. When this guy finally decided to come he was in full strut the last 50 yards. Came right into the decoys and shot him at 13 yards. 7am.

22lbs 15oz. 10 1/4" beard. Spurs 5/8 and 3/4.

I carried my bow the first day, because of the lack of activity that day I chose the old 870 the second morning. Wouldn't you know he came so close? I still have the archery season in Minnesota to look fwd to. I have shot lots of birds in So. Dak. with my bow, but never here at home.

Remember that the contest ends June 12th at Midnight. It's been another fun filled spring! FYI, I'm heading out on vacation for a few weeks but will try to update the results before I go. I'll work on getting folks their prizes when I get back.

Congrats to everyone who got a chance to spend some time chasing these great birds whether you got one or not!

Borch,

Thanks for putting this together again this spring! Congrats to everyone who scored on ol' tom turkey. While I didn't get a bird, this was my second turkey season and I'm narrowing the learning curve down, not to mention, I got my 9 year old daughter hooked, other than the early wake up calls, we had a blast! The look on her face the first morning when a gobbler sounded off about 100 yds behind the blind made my spring. I thought she crapped her pants! LOL
