Ugly Game Last Night

We were at the game again last night. What a difference from Monday. Slow boring game. Almost looked like the Angles took a dive the first night so we could have a good opener. Hope this is not a hint of things to come...

Yeah it was not pretty, but once Boof settled down and started to pitch and not throw he did much better.

I still think Boof will be fine.

As for Bass ... Well, when we get a bass, we throw it back!!

thats correct, i think that boof is going to be ok, he just has the pitch and not worry about everything. Just hit spots and try not to blow it by everyone. Be selective.

Biggest problem with Boof was, his speed changed very little. They were hitting him hard all night.

Crain, Reyes and Rincon all had a hand in it last night. Bass, his Major League debut, he'll be better.(I hope) This is still pretty much the same bullpen that has been the best in baseball the last couple years. They'll be okay...as long as the starting pitching doesn't see to it that they need to work too hard.

I sure liked how Crain looked, was throwing really hard and getting strikes. It will be nice having him back in the bullpen.

Only thing I am worried about is the team's inability to score runs so far. I know it is only 2 games, but even through ST they did not score much.

Morneau has done nothing but ground out to the 2nd baseman. I am sure he will come around, but he is not swinging well yet, he struggled in ST also.

All this said, there is no way to say how they will be this year based on just a few games.

Agreed, lets not jump to conclusions just yet. Let a month unfold before making up opinions. The Twins win tonight, and they guarantee a split against what I would consider the AL WEST champs. I also agree Morneau is a big key and hopefully he can start to put the ball in play or WELL OUT OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once Mauer starts hitting the ball a little better, and Justin, the team will score. If Gomez can get on base, steal second, Mauer gets a hit, its almost a for sure run!

Followed up by even an uglier. I didn't think one's enthusiasm could disappear so fast over the course of three games, but it sure has!

In 18 innings, this Twins offense could only gather 1 stinkin' run against mediocre at best pitching. Mauer showed once again how un-clutch he is by grounding into a DP to end the game. I actually guessed that would happen, because Mauer always grounds out to the second basemen when it counts.

I've said it for months, I'll say it again.

I love this team, but the offense is going to be terrible. The first three games are a good indication of where they left off in spring training.

They're weaker at CF & SS. Stronger in LF & 3B. It's a wash. 11th in runs scored, just like last year, here we come!

You know what.. Morneau needs to mature and get over the mistakes he makes at the plate. I'm sick of seeing him ground out, go to the dugout cussing, then hanging his head for the next two innings. This kid needs to stay positive. He's an absolutely headcase right now, and that's why he got into such a deep slump last year.

He is still one heck of a ball player and I would guess that most teams out there would like him on their team.

That's why we all expect so much out of him. He'll be ripped more often because we expect a lot out of him.

Yep its pretty rough if you get a GREAT pitching performance and can't even put up a 1 spot to help him out. Hopefully they decide to put a few hits in those bats or just throw the works away and get some new ones. But seriously they wont win games if they cant push across more than 2 or 3 runs once in a while!

Pretty bad when Punto has a better batting average than Morneau. One thing I am getting sick of that has carried over from last year is Mauer constantly grounding out to the 2nd baseman. last nights game, bottom of the 9th runner on 1st 1 out and Mauer hits into a game ending double play.

It's early yet. Did anyone really expect this team was going to be a big improvement over last year? I don't think so. We need to be patient. The next couple years look to be much better.

Blackburn was OUTSTANDING. The M&M boys are bound to break out of it. Did you see Morneau flip the ball back to first from his belly? Young and Gomez in the outfield should be lot's of fun to watch for years to come.

This team was built for the new stadium opener. I for one am looking forward to it. In the mean time, let's just enjoy the game for what it is and hope for a win once in a while.

Stay positive, we have alot of young players that have great potential. Last nights game was only 1 hit from a win, so you cant say the team sucks because of that. After watching last nights game, I am just more pumped about this team. To see Blackburn do so well, is a huge positive for them. Being starting pitching was everyones concern, that should be eased a bit. The offense will come around, dont worry!
