JohnMickish
Check out the link to the historical averages and earliest/latest ice outs. Most of the northern lakes have a historical late ice clear date that is past this years opener . If it dosen't warm up soon and add some rain we could be pushing it on some of the northern lakes. analyzer
Regarding last years open water March 28th. As I recall, it was 81 degrees march 26th last year. I played hookie, and went golfing that day... and I believe it was in the low 60's the day before.
tisosy11
One windy day and the ice around the metro will begin to break upThe ice is becoming very weak...
john.wells
There is going to be A LOT of winterkill this year.
tisosy11
That could very well be...but no more winterkill than ears passed because of aerators and such.
fishfearme
We had the wind but I dont see any ice busted up yet. Better get some warm days to help. 34 degrees does not melt the ice very fast. Budd lake is only 3 days away from setting a record! 10 more days and the ice will start to disappear from the metro south, I hope.

shizzy
I sure hope so as well. My OL told me on Sunday that I have been really crabby latley and I need to get out and fish.
HUNTFISH69
Saint Cloud should open up within a week or two for the most part, drove out past Pearl yesterday and the ice is at least 6-10 feet out from shore for the most part, around one of the streams that flows into it it's wide open around it, grand is close to the same status. My guess is April 23 for the majority of lakes to open up, the warm weather, rain, and wind predicted for this week should help get rid of it in a hurry
