Thanks guys - It was a fun 3 days. She's having her bird mounted full strut the way he shot him. I take her up to URL and a crappie gets put in the freezer, now a turkey, I'm afraid to bring her in the woods this fall! eek.gif

About that headless, beardless bird... well I do believe that the contest started April 5th at noon right? Well I had both birds killed before that so I think I'll have to wait 'til I get back from the Black Hills to register one! This time I'm gonna get one for the wall. Good luck fellas hopefully Hoyt will have some good stories for us when he returns from the turkey state. Here's that headless jake - I guess if I had to score him... 14lbs + 10(.25) + 10(.25) = 19. That'll win us the contest for sure!

By the way, sounds like you had a great time in Neb. sticknstring, and you to Hoyt4!

Best of luck in Kansas paintbrush. I've never been down there. 4 of us are actually heading back down to NE today to take a a few youths out with the shotguns. Gonna be a little wet and cold but Sunday should be nice. If they get birds early... I might have time to sneak out and get a crack at another one. I'll report on Monday.

Well we ran into some good luck scouting on Fri and found a flock of 70 birds on some ground we were able to hunt... the storm really got the birds grouped back up. The boys did pretty well and made up for some missed shots last year. 5 birds including two toms in one shot! I snuck out with the bow for awhile after that but didn't have any birds within bow range. Starting to get a little educated. Hard to leave yesterday as it was absolutely gorgeous. I wished MN opened today... folks would have some awesome weather to hunt birds in. Wednesday will have to suffice.

Good luck Hoyt in Sodak and to everyone starting off MN wednesday morning! Off to the hills...

Well I wish I had an early season. I was out scouting today to set up a blind for a buddy I'm gonna put on a bird. There was 14 different tom's right around the area the blind was going! Groups of 1 to 6. I ended up just leaving so not to spook them and came back this afternoon and set up the blind. Does that get the blood pumping.

Ya it's the most I've seen in any one small area at once ever. The woods sounded like thunder with gobbling at first light. I tossed out a trail cam too, hopefully will have some pics to post on Wednesday. Now as long as I can do my job for the team in May..

Neat pic, thats a mess of goblers. I'd be happy with just one.

I start on Wednesday and it looks like the weather gonna finally break and warm up, just in time. I hunt in extreme SE MN, down by Houston and LaCrescent and I really think the winter took its toll down here. Lots of ice in December followed by a ton of snow all year long. I'm just not seeing birds and just not hearing any gobbling, just a few birds hear and there. So few in fact that I have yet to decide where I'm going opening morning. I have 5 farms lined up but none are real active. We'll see what happens, I only need one right! If the turkeys don't pan out then I'll fish some walleyes on the river and some brookies in the streams. Just looking forward to a little vacation.

Speaking of trail cams... here's one taken of the tom my girlfriend killed along with his buddy a week prior. And I'm pretty sure one of the 7 hens has a 6-7" beard as I saw the same group later on. If only I could've gotten a crack at her... we'd have two birds at the tax man!

Purple - Best of luck Wednesday... lets make it 3 for 3! And Hoyt I can get those pics up for you as well if you can get them to me by 5 today.

Rios the first day at 7:00 am and then another 17lbs 8 oz. bird at 10:00 am on the first day too. Tons of birds down there! First bird scored out at 57.6875. • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
