Plastics Smell

I am new to plastics and was wondering if the "plastic smell" on these artificial baits effect fish bite. Do I need to spray them with something to cover the smell? If so what do you recommend?

most plastics are impregnated with there own scent.

I don't think its necessary to spray them with anything but I suppose it couldn't hurt.

I think Neiko means that plastisol smell that you get from the base ingredients. And I think with finicky fish, you may be hindered. But with real aggressive fish, and presentations you are fine with the "plastic" smelling baits.

I would say Anise Oil and there are ice fishing plastics already impregnated with this stuff.

hmm...this year, I've been skunked on my plastics on hard water...

bare bone forage minnow spoon worked better...

This may be a bit off topic but seeing you guys are talking plastics has anyone here splurged for the Berkley alive? is it really worth it's weight in Gold because the price reflect as if it is. Just wondering as I could never spend that kinda money to just try it

Wasn't Preparation H made from Shark oil? That's why I say and I remember it used to be good.

As for alive, it does seem expensive, but it is like buying 5pks (for the pint) of Gulp. So it just seems high.

I thought the Gulp Alive was so spendy that it must work. I think I will try other stuff first before I spend $20.

Neiko, it's $20, but that is for 40ish baits or the like. So 5 packs worth. Basically you are paying for 5 packs, when honestly you only want 1 to try.
