fisherdog19
What about using some type of composite board, like what they use in the floor of boats. It will NOT corrode, and is much stronger than wood.
tisosy11
heavier? expensive?
sparkydm
maybe some sort of material to isolate the frame from the floor would work. what about rhino lining?
deadminnowcatcher
OK, I just figured out how to post pictures so here is the 1st one. And I need your input. I picked up 4 carpet samples at Menards today. Grey, Tan, Green, and Burgandy. What color should we put in our ultimate fish house The Burgandy is not as dark as it appears in the picture. The trailer part of the project is almost complete and i will post pictures in a weak or 2.
mike morris
Burgandy or tan.
brady_d
I would just use the samples as rugs and not put any carpet down.
mike morris
I've never heard of a 6" by 6" rug before

MuleShack
The color of the floor might also be determined by how dark or light the walls will be. If your using a dark colored paneling on the walls, then keep the floor a lighter color other wise the dark soaks up the available light in the house.Mine came with dark blue and it works good, but the walls are a light brown tone. vegas
Where is the "queer eye for the ice fisher guy" group when you need them??
BucksnDucks
I've been in a few with the green, and think it looks really good! Only thing is yellow hair from my lab really shows up against it. Otherwise tan looks good to, and as was stated earlier, it will help lighten the inside up for you! deadminnowcatcher
The walls will be made of cedar plank which is kinda light colored.
deadminnowcatcher
Are there any web sites that would show the framing of new fish houses??? I have been searching and cannot find any. Not sure how i am going to do the framing of the roof yet.

Bothun
What size and type of studs are you going to use?
deadminnowcatcher
2x2 walls with 2x4 in corners. I was thinking of 2x3 roof but would be open to something else on roof if it works better. The roof will get spray foamed and i am building the house from the inside 1st. Just a thought as other models have the raised roof in their design...I'm also assuming it would be to help shed any snow weight too.
deadminnowcatcher
My thought is "when will it sit perfectly level"I would think that it would never be perfectly level therefor why slope the roof? I could be wrong though
BuschPilot
i guess if your thinking flat roof i would rethink again. make it out of 2x6's and cut down so you have a slight slope. it takes no time at all to do and you won't have the issues like your going to have with it flat. make a mark in center of your 2x 6 at the width of the house and then on the outsides mark it at 2-1/2" and angle it. your slope is done and lots of run off. space them out at 2' and it would be plenty strong too! just my thoughts though. tisosy11
It should sit level or darn close to it, if you are planning on leaving it out there...An unlevel house will be hard on your doors and windows...
Sutty
If the fish house is going to be the Ultimate FM fish house we are going to need a sloped roof. :-)
deadminnowcatcher
ok sloped roof it is. I will peak the middle. How do i construct the roof. Just put the rafter on the top plate or box the rafters in and set on the top plate???
tisosy11
I suggest taking a look back at Buschpilots idea. Cutting down 2x6's and then you will still have a flat roof inside the house...if you want a peaked roof on the inside then you will have to go with a center rafter.
