Coffee tubes

i looked at these tubes the other day and KVD's picture is on them but they seemed gimicky. But can't imagine KVD is putting his name on gimicks. Anyone used them? Any advantages besides smelling like old Folgers. Would this make setting the hook the best part of waking up. Just wondering if anyone has used them?

I also kind of wondered this. Is it just a gimmick? personally I will stick with Gulp and Salt.......But at least if you need to bite your worm to shorten it it's not the nastiness that is Gulp.

Seems gimicky to me...

From what I hear (I think it was from this site) the story/logic behind it is that someone affiliated with strike king dumped some coffee grounds in the water by accident and a bunch of sunfish were eating the grounds. I guess he began testing of his own with his bass baits and coffee scents.

Never used them but had a bag in my hand the other day and opened it and had to go to Caribou for s shot afterwards ...really pleasant smell - much better than garlic, etc.

Probably won't try it - stil haven't tried Gulp....

Man, I've watched sunfish gobble up a chew I'd just spit out about a million times. Either a.) I need to start making Copenhagen-favored tubes, or b.) small sunfish will eat just about anything...

I'm sure coffee scented plastics will work for the same reason garlic, anise, strawberry (anyone remember Mann's Jelly Worms) or most other non-fish-food scented plastics do: a.) because they cover up other odors, or b.) because it gives an angler enough confidence in the bait to use the thing...

But I may just be a cynic ;\)

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

That's what I need, snoose flavored baits (with nicotine). Then my odds of quitting will be nil. I'll chew on plastics all day.

I am kind of iffy on scent in general. Plenty of plastics that I have are fortified with some enhancement, but I never really thought they were any better or worse than the other one. I still think location is more important, presentation is second, and maybe color and flavor are a distant third. But, as I've proven with comments before, I am old school.

I have never used the coffee tubes but I would have to agree with RK. I think one of the main objectives of adding scent is to disguise any scent from the fisherman or other human activity. I only use scented plastics and find myself switching my bait pre-maturally in order to have fresh "juice" on it. With that said, I also had a few scenarios where I ran out of the "hot bait" for that day. I was convinced that I couldn't switch baits, so I just used the old ones off the floor of my boat. Caught my biggest bass of the year using an old beat up worm with no scent. So I think confidence trumps everything. If that means using coffee scented baits, I would use them. I just have a hard time thinking that coffee scented plastics will revolutionize the industry.

Maybe the coffee tubes will end up making the fish you catch on them Coffee Addicts? Much like the King of the Hill episode when Hank is using Crack to catch Bass..........The Nicotubes would be very interesting. \:\)

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
