Packers lose in Overtime

It's probably worth mentioning that the Pack's O-line wasn't opening holes for Grant, either. When he did find a seam or two he was able to get into the defensive backfield for OK gains, but the Giants did a great job of stopping up the line of scrimmage. That removed a big key to the Packers' offense and forced them to pass, pass, pass. Just what the Giants wanted.

When I saw that interception just into overtime I knew it was over. The only silver lining I see is that I won't have any reason to sit through what has become one of the biggest pieces of spectacle and foolishness in the modern television world: The Super Bowl.

I will give you a simple combined recap for both games.

Pack - Too much

Vikes - Not enough

I would have to say watching Adrian Peterson this year was more exciting than any other single player in the league.

If the Vikes get a quarterback they will be a force to be reconed with grin.gif

The NFL got what it really wanted anyway....NY vs. Boston...just like baseball. Let the hype begin......

When you look at it from a marketing standpoint they've got to be overjoyed the Giants won. Now they have a MAJOR market in New York compared to Green Bay, WI, population just north of 100K. GB has a lot of fans across the country, but hard to compare against New York, New York...the media capital of the world.

Yeah, I'm sure they had all the promo's ready for that too. I think that's a hard comparison to make this year when you look at what each QB has to work with. You have Brady and a lot of the Patriots who have been to multiple AFC championship games in the past few years, and then you have Favre and the youngest team in the NFL who by all rights shouldn't have even made it as far as they did this year. Essentially a team vs. one old guy with some up and comers.

Now they get to pull out all the promo material they used for the past few years of the MLB and compare NY to Boston endlessly.

I was referring to Pier's comment about getting crushed again in the superbowl if the Packers made it.

The Giants did come out to play yesterday and that was the difference. As much as I hate Eli the guy was very accurate throwing his passes and his receivers were catching everything that was thrown to them. Packers o-line didn't open running lanes for Grant, the d-line didnt get much pressure on the QB.

Good luck to the G-men in 2 weeks against the Pats.

I'm curious as to what packer fans think of Al Harris? I watched MN recievers in the dome this year running free behind him all game long but Holcomb couldnt get them the ball. Then Terrell Owens makes him look absolutely lost. Then yesterday it seemed as if all he had done all week was listen to media members call him a shut down corner and rather than play the game. He actually got picked on all day long and yet seemed to think he somehow should constantly get in Plaxicos face. He may be able to get physical with the "average" NFL reciever but i can't believe McCarthy came in with a gameplan that included Harris trying to stop Burress 1 on 1. I thought it was very predictable coming into the game that Burress would be free all over against Harris if the pack chose to cover him 1 on 1. I said it on a post on here that i thought Burress would be open all day long but didnt know if Manning could get him the ball in the cold. Harris can't cover a top tier reciever and in my mind if you are a corner that gets picked on in the NFC championship game than shut down corner is something that should never be attached to your name.

Yes I do call being a 12 point favorite "PACKERS" and trailing by 14 points in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl to a team that plays in a Conference "AFC" that had not won a Super Bowl in 13 Years getting CRUSHED.... grin.gif.... You betcha!

Al Harris should turn in his pro-bowl selection! I've said it a million times over the past 5 seasons.... He is by far theeeeeeeeee #1 most over-rated corner in the league! He is great at covering sub-par recievers and O.K. at average recievers but is constantly burned beyond that with any reciever with any abilities. And on top of that he's afraid to tackle!!!

And that from atrue Packer's fan! I wish he'd disappear!

People are bashing Favre, but no one is talking about Buress's 11 receptions... and which Packer was assigned to cover him.... There is the stake in the heart!

Good Luck!

Ken

I was disappointed in Al Harris for sure and for the coaches for thinking he could take Plax even though he proved he couldn't early and often.

I had been hoping that Eli Manning's career would not be a disappointment but it's tough to watch the improvements come at GB's expense.

Last April I was in Boston for work and everywhere you looked people were selling and wearing Red Sox gear but you would be hard pressed to find anything for the Pats??? Boston won't care about 19-0. For better or worse, GB had a record crowd on Sunday.
