LakeRunner-I knew a guy who grew up fishing Michigan stream and rivers. He'd get this far away look in his eye talking about them. Sounds like a great place to grow up. Someday, Carter will be thankful his dad showed him those places.

I don't generally post a lot about my personal life here on FM, and I'll be honest... I don't check the gals forum out much... but this is a real neat idea! It has been interesting to read alot of the bios on this thread! I may have to invade this forum more often!

My name is Ken Owl and I'm just a whisker shy of 44 years old. Married for 16 years and have 2 sons. Zach, who many on here already know is severly disabled and the sweetest boy in the whole world (and the apple of my wife's eye) and Hunter who is my good fishing and especially hunting buddy. I also raised my wife's 2 children from a previous marriage My daughter Abby who is 23 and just graduated from college and got her first job as an RN and my son Eric 26, who needs a job... anybody hiring? grin.gif

As you can tell by my screen name, I have labradors... I have had them for my entire adult life after a owning a shorthair for my 1st hunting dog. I trained and trialed and tested many dogs in my 20s and 30s, but I quit all that and they are just my hunting dogs now. As of right now I have a 3 year old black, and a 14 year old yellow. This last year I spread my wings and tried another breed, a field bred American Cocker Spaniel. He is one of the coolest dogs I've ever owned! But man-o-man, have I taken some [PoorWordUsage] from my buddies about him!

I am a Landscape Designer and for the second time in 13 years, I am starting up a new company. Been in landscaping more or less my entire career...

I'm the mod. for the hunting dog forum and have been a member of FM almost from the start... just can't tally up the posts like a lot of other members... and I've never had an avatar... Lisa will chide me for that! grin.gif and no I'm not using a tulip or pansy! (inside joke!)

A little fun fact... with the last name Owl, people usually asume I'm Native American, but in reality, my Grandpa came from Poland. When he was being naturalized, the judge pronounced his last name as Sowa (Polish for Owl), the way it is spelled. But in Poland it is pronounced Sova and he wanted the judge to pronounce it that way... the judge said in America it's pronounced Sowa, and my Grandpa said "if your not going to say it as Sova, then it's Owl"!... Geez, thanks Gramps!

That oughta' wrap it up!

Hi Lisa & everyone!

This is a cool thread...

The basics about me:

47 years old, Divorced 18 years ago, not re-married yet, but want to be - still looking for the right one... 6', 180Lbs, blue eyes, mostly brown hair. Daughter is 20 & in Iowa going to college, she is a total sweetheart & no big worries yet!

Worked 26 years in the Hi-Tech Industry for Military, Consumer & the last 16+ years developing Implantable Pacemaker & Defibrillator processes to save & improve tens of thousands of lives. What a humbling experience when they come in once a year to thank us, can get very teary eyed.

Got laid off in November when they eliminated ~1,000 jobs, no fault of my own, mine went to Ireland. Got a nice severance & great health pkg. so there's no hurry to run back to work. Kinda looking, but I started my own company & we'll see how that goes.

Love to save & invest, live within my means, never paid a cent on CC debt in 15 years as I pay things off right away.

Fished Winnie a lot since age 4, Dad fished Winnie since 1947 (no kidding) Speared on Winnie since age 8, netted tulibees & whitefish & smoked them. Ummmmmmm.... Love to fish many lakes & the Croix.

LOVE to cook & grill & love to try new recipes I develop from scratch. Up to 42 people who said the ribs I make are the best they ever tasted. It took a long time to experiment to get this recipe!

Tons more, that's just a tiny bit.

Thanks for having this thread..........!

Have a great day!

Well here is mine: I am 50 years old, born and raised in the beautiful state of Minnesota. I ventured off to California in the 80's and after 15 years living in La La land, I came home to my roots. I am a lifetime fisherman and spend as much time as possible on the water in and around the Twin Cities.

I am divorced with two beautiful children, an 18 year old daughter and an 11 year old son. Unfortunately, my ex is moving my kids back to California so I will definitely have more time to myself on the water. I have to somehow find a saving grace in that as I failed in my 2 year battle to keep them here in Minnesota.

I have a 16 foot Northwood with a 40 h.p. Merc that I have had for the past 7 years. I love to fish the Croix for walleyes and metro musky lakes such as Harriet, Independence and Tonka. I am always looking for fishing partners as I have trouble finding people crazy enough to be the first on the water before the sun rises.

It's been interesting reading all of the bios on here and would love to get to know some locals to join me this season.

Hey MuskyRookie,

Thanks for posting - best wishes with all of that going on with your children...

I am similar to you - hard to find people to go early, on the Croix, etc., so I usually go myself also. Trying to change that this year... Maybe we can meet up on the water sometime!!

Hi

My name is Matt but go by Hammer. If you haven't guessed I am a carpenter. I am originally from Rosemount MN and now live in Shakopee.

I am 38 and married to a great woman Karen, we have three kids Lauren 5, and Hannah and Vincent 3 (twins).

When I am not working I love to hunt and fish or make my own jigs for those awesome walleyes.

We spend time at the cabin in Dandury Wisconsin or in Nevis MN.

I own a 20' Skeeter and love to be in it,if it is on a small lake or fishing on Lake Michigan for salmon.

My wife is a freelance graphic designer who loves to fish with me any chance she gets, except for the ice she wont do it.

Just a little about myself.

Thanks

Hammer

I guess I will keep this thread going.

Jeremy Smith I am 31 years old I have married for almost 5 years to my lovely wife Julie. We have two kids allison, she is 4 and hunter my son who is 2. I was born and raised in red wing. I was introduted to fishing when I was a young kid. My uncle took me ice fishing don't ever remember catching anything though. I started shore fishing when I was in high school with a buddy of mine. We caught carp for the most part. My parents never fished so I am pretty much self taught and learn new things everytime I go out. I am a security officer. I bought my first boat last year when I found out that I was going to canada for a fishing trip. Its not much a 73 lund car topper boat(thats what I was told) 18 horse evinrude. Its a small boat. Its only 48 inches wide but it does the trick for now. That was one of the best vacations I have ever had. I took my daughter fishing when she was two. My wifes family has a cabin near DL on fish lake. She pulled up a sunny on a snoopy pole and ran away crying. She wanted me to fish with her pole(I looked kinda silly but she liked it) I fish the river or where I can put a line in. I like to deer hunt. I use to hunt small game but with the family its hard to find time to do all the things I use to. My wife likes to fish and she use to small game hunt with me. I also like to spend time with the family of course
