Arctic Armor Outerwear by IDI Gear

Recommended Posts

I'd like to send out a big Fishing Minnesota welcome to Arctic Armor by IDI Gear.

When I first heard there was an ice fishing suit (bibs & jacket) that provided flotation if the unthinkable happened, I had to have it. I've personally worn Arctic Armor nearly all of last winter on the ice; and this summer when I required protection from the rain, warmth on a cold night, or both!

The Technical Information-

Innovative Designs Inc. offers the Arctic Armor™Suit which will revolutionize the sport of ice fishing. Each Arctic Armor™ suit utilizes 3 layers of our exclusive thermal insulator INSULTEX™. One layer of INSULTEX™ protects a person to sub-zero temperatures. Multiple layers of INSULTEX™ can provide practically unlimited levels of insulation. INSULTEX™ is also windproof, waterproof and buoyant. Innovative Designs has perfected this design under the strictest guidelines to ensure buoyancy for fishermen. The Arctic Armor™ Suit, with INSULTEX™, consists of micro-air molecules trapped inside the fabric to enhance buoyancy. Keep warm and keep safe with the Arctic Armor™ Suit from Innovative Designs. It’s also great for snowmobiling or any outdoor cold weather sports.

My Personal Experience-

Like I previously mentioned, I wore Arctic Armor on the ice for the majority of last winter. I cannot believe how light the material is, yet how warm it will keep you on the ice! This is obviously great for the mobile ice angler who doesn't want to get bogged down by traditional heavyweight outerwear.

Even on some nasty, below 0 days on Upper Red Lake last winter, Arctic Armor allowed me to stay outside, remain mobile, and track down the elusive slab crappies URL is famous for! If any of you have fished URL lately, you know how important it is to remain outside and mobile regardless of conditions to have success!

Not Just For Ice

Many folks have been asking if Arctic Armor is waterproof and works well in the boat. I will be the first to stand up and say Yes... and Yes! I have had many days and/or nights in the boat this summer where I needed warm rain gear. Arctic Armor was the ticket!

My first test was back in early June when my dad and I were on the Red River north of Grand Forks, ND fishing channel catfish. A big rainstorm moved in and caught us nearly 15 miles from the boat launch. We decided to head on back and proceeded to get pounded by rain the entire trip lasting nearly 40 minutes at 30 mph up river. Upon arrival, I was bone dry except my shoes, my face and neck, and the cuffs around my arms. Dad was soaked to the bone. I think I have him converted. grin.gif

I continued to wear Arctic Armor all summer long during my cold, overnight, flathead catfish trips on the Minnesota River this summer. The river gets cold and soaked with dew in the wee hours of the morning, you have to stay warm and dry to stay out there!

And just this weekend, we spent 4 days trolling crankbaits at night on Cass Lake for walleyes in the wind, steady rain, and cold October evenings. Being sick as a dog, Arctic Armor kept me warm, and in the boat, which proved to be the most important aspect.

Day four of the trip produced this beautiful muskie at 2am for me!

I've got to tell you, whenever and wherever I go fishing, I bring my Arctic Armor with as you never know what conditions you'll have to adapt to!

I really don't know what else I have to do to prove this stuff to me other than jumping in a freezing cold lake (which I'm NOT about to test by the way!)

Camoflage Is Available This Year!

For those who are wondering if its available in camoflage... it is this year! The same Arctic Armor ice fishing suit that I have come to love is available in Mossy Oak Duck Blind Camo, which is a brand new from Mossy Oak this year as well!

I'm a waterfowler as well, heck, most of us outdoorsman cross over between various hunting activities and fishing activities. From my experiences on the ice and in cold weather situations, you waterfowlers will be happy with this outerwear! I know I've paddled a tippy canoe without a life jacket one too many times, and shot out of a tippy boat from the cattails before. The added flotation that Arctic Armor provides should give you peace of mind in those situations you forgot to put your vest on in!

I'm excited to say Arctic Armor has a great line-up of products this year which cover all your outdoors needs- from ice fishing to open water fishing and to the marshes and woods as well!

[Note from admin: Be sure to ask for the IceLeaders or HSO Logo when ordering your suit if you want it].

Chris,

I am with you. Since I was first introduced to the product about a year ago I have become a true believer. Why would you not own a set of this? I do realize that it is not for everyone, but it is for everyone that spends time in the cold (especially on the water). There are some nice products out there, but when you have a product like Arctic Armor that sells for a competitive price and has all the features (and more) I say it's a basic decision. I have two suits, both a Duck Blind camo and the red and black and wear them a lot. My wife and I have carried the product in our store for about a year now and it has been great. We have sold enough suits to get a good grasp on the sizing and have "pretty good" guessers if given height and weight. I have given it the test on the ice and in and on the open water. Yes in, we have tested it in the icy waters of Gull Lake (on purpose) and I also had to test the new suit this summer when I got my first sample. It works! We also carry the Arctic Armor gloves. If any of you have any questions regarding this product, please feel free to call or email.

Thank you,

Walleyedan

  • we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators

I held off on the IceLeaders Arctic Armor Red Suit last ice fishing season because I wanted a camo model.

My HotSpot Outdoors Arctic Armor suit arrived and I have taken pics for all to see (You can get your IceLeaders, HotSpotOutdoors or FishingMinnesota Logo'd Arctic Armor Ice Fishing suit Camo or Red - just send an e-mail to [email protected] or call and WalleyeDan can fix you up with a red suit or a camo suit with or without the logo.

Be sure to ask for the IceLeaders or HSO logo when ordering if you want it.

Here are the pics and you will soon figure out why I wanted this suit and the best part is I will be nice and toasty as well as safe with my Arctic Armor suit that floats.

I've put my HSO artic armor through many of the same paces in the same places as Chris. When I received the suit my first thought was, "How is something so thin and light going to keep me warm?". A few days later I was on Upper Red it was a cold bluster day and I was amazed that the layering I had undernear the suit was actually too much. The next day found me in my suit in simuliar conditions wearing just jeans and a sweatshirt underneath and being very comfortable.

Very nice suit that is a must for those who like to brave the elements outside the fish house. For a runner and gunner like me who spends more time outside the icehouse than in, it's a perfect match.

Excellent news, welcome Arctic Armor!

I purchased an Arctic Armor suit last year and I also am extremely impressed with it. This combo is the lightest and warmest I've ever worn. Combine that with being completely waterproof, windproof and added safety floatation is even better! I may have to add the camo version to the arsenal. grin.gif

Hi guys,

I was out fishing with my Dad, his buddy Bruce and fellow guide Tim Hanske a couple of weeks ago up in the Brainerd area and aked Tim if he caught a 28 inch (or larger) walleye if he would jump in the drink with is Arctic Armor. You can look on our site (walleyedan) at the video of him swimming. Unfortunately the walleye is not swimming, it was caught in deeper water and would not go back after a long reviving mission.

WalleyeDan,

I am hoping to get a chance to stop in tomorrow and pick up a camo suit. I am coming up from the cities to work on my house on Mille Lacs so I think should be able to make it in. I always enjoy going for a drive up in the Brainerd lakes area anyways. Sounds like your shop is located next to the Pines golf course, which I worked at while going to college in Brainerd.

I would also agree on the quality of these suits. I wore my bibs this past weekend and they worked out very well. Soon the jacket will be worn for the ice season also.

I would have worn my jacket hunting this past weekend but it is being stitched with the HSO logo at this time.

Looks to be a very useful suit and the best of all, if I have that accident of falling in the water it ewioll also work there to.

Anyone who is looking for a ice fishing/duck hunting/deer archery suit for cooler temps, check out the Artic Armor suit as its built for all seasons.

Harvey Lee,

I just brought yours into the embroidery shop this afternoon, he said they should be done by Wed., I will ship all of them at that point. Shelley told me you wanted Lee Harvey on it, don't you want Harvey Lee? Let me know. The suits have been selling quite well, thank you.
