You might try doing a search for your topic in "Open Water" and "Equipment/Expert Information".

I few responses I seem to recall that were popular but hotly debates were dryer sheets and mint extract.

Cheese I use a box of moth balls and a box of dryer sheets just fill the boat and motor with them.. So far so good..

I use a tin pan and fill it with a box of mothballs. I put aluminum foil over it, except for 3-4 inches or so. I have been storing the boat in a barn for 3 years with this method and haven't had a problem yet.

I stored boats for people in 3 sheds I had at a previous home. I saw people try alot of things that seemed to work for them, Bounce dryer sheets, pepermint oil and moth balls.

The most important thing is to clean the interior of your boat. Empty chip bags or candy wrappers will draw mice just as well as the chips or candy would. People have forgotten they have a zip lock of dog food in some compartment. Worm bedding attracts them too.

Don't put De-Con or any other poison bait IN the boat. It will draw mice into your boat, that's why they call it bait. If you can put the poison in pet safe boxes by the wheels and jack to get them before they get in the boat.

Just reason with the mice and tell them that you don't like the fact that they are chewing the ---t out of your stuff and if they don't stop you will have to give them a "time out" c63

I put moth balls in old socks, then put the socks in all the storage compartments, the bilge, where the wiring runs, etc. Works great. Usually use 2 boxes of moth balls and about 8-10 old socks.

With my old socks the mothballs would be unneccessary. I have also heard that cedar balls and Irish Spring soap work well. I bought a product called Ropax this year that is supposed to work well. The problem that I have is that a brother-in-law keeps an old camper full of junk and an old van full of old bedding in the same quonset that I keep my camper and boats in. They amount to two giant mouse nests. I am going to put some of this mouse bait in plastic soda bottles with the caps left off next to my tires this year.

I bet you will hear a lot of different ideas. What I read about a couple of years ago on this site has worked for me with fish houses and my boat. I use peppermint oil and cotton balls. So far so good.
