Patriots Cheating

The Pats were caught stealing the Jets defensive signals. Pretty significant considering they turned a close game into a blowout in the second half.

Maybe there was some truth to the 41-Donut NFC championship game a few years back where Vikings player said the Giants were stealing signals......

It'll be interesting to see what kind of punishment is handed down. I doubt they'll cripple the franchise. John Clayton writes "Other great organizations have paid penalties for violating league rules. The Broncos lost a draft choice for violating the salary cap with John Elway. The Steelers once had to forfeit a third-round draft choice for working out in shoulder pads in the offseason. The Patriots may lose a draft choice or two."

I think a 3rd round pick and 1 game suspension and a $25k fine would be a good deterent to other teams, since thats what it is about. This has been going on for years, nfl looked the other way, either they need to stop it, or let it go as normal and let the teams be more cautious.

Yes the head coach! Its his team, he needs to be held accountable for the rest of his staff!

It all depends on how Goodell sees it. If he feels like this really can hurt the integrity of the game and NFL then he might come down hard. He's been tough so far on players and if he wants to send a message to teams he just might make an example of the Patriots. Maybe loss of a # 1 pick, big fine, maybe a salary cap freeze for one year, suspend head coach. Whatever he decides I am sure the penalty will make a bold statement and any other team doing it or thinking of doing it will stop instantly.

This will be interesting the Pats have a past warning from the NFL I'm thinking 1st round pick and $100,000.....

I see a loss draft pick, money? what is a 25,000 fine when you are dealing with 750 mil business. On the other hand the Pats just got caught I would tend to think this is more of a common thing then just the Pats doing it.

For the little bit they will penalize them, they will keep cheating. Too much money to be made. In NASCAR they will penalize a driver or team a 100,000 and it doesnt even start to stop it. Big Business.

Suspend them for the year.

I seen the head coach got 500,000 fine, the team got 250,000 and will lose a 1st round pick next year if they make the playoffs.

I think the fines are right but I think they should lose the 1st rounder regardless if they make the playoffs or not.

If they miss the playoffs they lose a 2nd and 3rd rounder, which is probably even worse than a single first.

Guess coach will not be wearing any new sweat shirts on the sidelines this year... That was a pretty strong statement from the commish. Fine the coach not the team. I'll still wager it will not stop it and am pretty sure the Pats are not the only team looking to gain an edge.

Formula 1 just fined McLaren $100,000,000 (one hundred MILLION dollars) for stealing information from Ferrari. Makes the NASCAR and NFL fines look like pocket change!
