I totally agree with you Shorelunch on going with a 620 Ranger. If for no other reason than resale value. Did anybody else hear that Crystal Pierz is no longer a Ranger dealer?

A prudent man would take $20K of that sum and buy a nice Crestliner 1750 SF and then use the other $30K to invest in growth stocks, with an emphasis on Asian markets. By the time you wear out the Crestliner you'll have enough to buy ANY Ranger you want, and still have a bit left to invest.

But note: I said a PRUDENT man. grin.gif

I am guessing if you had 50 G's laying around you probably had already invested well over 30K in stocks.

I would have to go with the Ranger if I had to choose between the two.

Living in NE MN and if I had $50K to spend on a boat, I would probably go with a 2025 Pro-V.

Do we have to go through this again and again. If you have 50k laying around, go to a dealer and test ride in them. With that kind of cash, the dealer will be more than happy to help you with whatever you want. Some guys will say Ranger and others will say Triton. I believe they are both similar in quality/fit/finish/fishability. It comes down to personal preference and it is similar to the Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Toyota/Nissan debates. Next it will be what color combo should a guy go with on the new shiny boat. I am not trying to be cynical here, but if you look through the pages in the bass forum, the walleye forum, the open water forum, the mille lacs forum, they all will have pretty much the same topic. Its not really a worthwhile topic.

I really like the Tritons layout. But being up North I would have to go with a Ranger because we have no Triton dealers around these parts and a boat is only as good as the dealer who will service it.

I suprised there is not many yet that would choose a Triton, I would. I have fished out of 619 Ranger with a 200 Yami and a 189 Triton walleye boat with a 150 Yami. Both are 2 stroke non-HPDI fuel injected. Now I am a speed guy, the Triton is faster with a 150, same size boat. The Tritons hull is much better, gets up on top and goes. Way more lifting strakes. I mostly musky fish and my dream boat is a Triton TR21XD. It is an extra deep bass boat with a 25" transom. I would hang a Merc 250XS off the back and smoke any Ranger.

Cant agree more with you man. Triton is a very fast boat. I have a ranger 519 with a 200 opti, and looking to get a triton instead.

That is why i was wondering what peopel would think. You look at the BASS ELITE SERIES, its all about triton boats. No more rangers.

AMEN! The 20x or 21x triton bass boats are the way to go. Ranger makes a great boat also. They simply aren't as fast as the tooners! Not many boats can handle big water like the 21x bass boat. Those that can are rigged for walleyes. The only drawback of the big x series tritons may be if you like to run in skinny water.

Triton builds a nice boat. No doubt. Their problem is that nobody knows about them in the upper Midwest. They really haven't realized that regional promotion is needed in this area and their dealers have been very frustrated. They're a southern company with southern ways.

If the folks down at Triton realized that they need to market directly to this area instead of just BASS, they will move the needle up here. If they support the dealers through better service and marketing/advertising/promotions/incentives, yes, I think they can get some butts in boats.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.   
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
