Slyster
Hmm.. I am an all out BASS fisherman... and so far with my 14 foot Lund.. I haven't been pestered ONCE yet! er... I wish I WAS being pestered.. I'd feel better.. OH!.. ok... I want to file a discrimination LAWSUIT against 14' Lund boats NOT targeting bass so we get recognized! And by the way.. the boat REALLY doesn't matter... I caught an accidental 42" muskie last night (May 21)... yes.. in my 14' Lund!
Deitz Dittrich
LMAO @ Sly- People dont pester you, because you are fishing in areas that nobody cares about. LMAOjust kidding bud!

Fever
I too fish out of a 14 foot boat. A 1969 Alumicraft... Sweet set up & I never get pestered either. I have good electronics, a trolling motor on the bow, a tough 1994 8 horse Tohatsu motor on the hull. Aside from taking a bit longer to get to my spots or to go spot to spot on a big lake.... I must say that the boat really doesnt matter. I put a floor in it along with a casting platform & new carpet. I have storage even. I get real good gas milage with that motor to boot... I've boated pleanty of nice pigs in the west metro the last few years. A handfull pushing that 6lb mark... Someday soon I'll be up grading but this year had to put a new driveway in and HAD to get a pop up camper. Anyway, Deitz I agree, there are some jerks out there. We just have to try to be the change we want to see in the world. That's the only way it'll work. Deitz... Looking forward to summer? Just a few days left for us in Norwood. Seniors last day is this friday. Next friday were done till Aug. Can't wait.

Nate McVey
I fish in my dads 12' Starcraft with a 5.5 that he waterskied behind when he was very young (he is 57). We fish Lake Gogebic in the U.P. of Michigan. If anyone knows that lake, it has the ability to whip into a frenzy faster than Lake Superior. Most of the time the "harasment" we get is from people making sure we are ok when the wind and waves start rolling, and the occasional boat that likes to point, laugh and take pictures . Thank God for all those "jerks" in bass boats, walleye boats, jon boats and, don't forget those darn ski boats!! There are a lot of jerks out there, but there are WAY more people that just want to have fun and share moments with friends. The more we show that attitude, the more likely that it is to spread. Most of us just want to have fun and enjoy the outdoors, don't let those (Contact Us Please) ruin it for you. If you know you are not doing anything illegal and you don't find it unethical, then enjoy yourself and the company of those you are with and have fun. Obviously the point of my story is to JUST HAVE FUN!!!!
fishinchicks
Quote: We just have to try to be the change we want to see in the world. Funny, I just put that quote on my screen saver two days ago! People like to compartmentalize others, I've noticed. We get laughed at when we take our 12 foot rowboat out to test its "seaworthiness". Don't need a trailer for it, just two people to lift it in and out of the pickup! Haven't tried fishing from it yet - the kids get to rowing in circles just to see how fast I can puke! bronzeback01
Hey what's up with this " (Contact Us Please) " stuff. Who am I suposed to contact? And why? What I said wans't a curse word nor do I feel anyone would've been offended. If I had used an actual 4 letter word as I very well could've I'd see the problem. But I said a word that rymes with "rick" which is often used in place of "jerk".I understand the rules on this site as I have been using it for a few years now but is there a new moderator or something because I'm seeing a lot of posts getting edited and deleted for no obvious reasons and when asked why no one is given an answer??? Just curious??? New moderator??? Power trip???
Nate McVey
Not a moderator or on a power trip, but I think that word does not follow the "family values" that makes this site one of the, if not THE most populat fishing HSOforum in the world. I'm sure you have a great vocabulary use some @,#,$ or * next time.
Slyster
Next time try '(Contact Us Please)'... EDIT.. Opps.. p r i c k is censored as well.. lol!! Yes... this site is buttoned up no doubt!
Deitz Dittrich
Bronze- its a word filter.. we have a lot of kids interested in fishing that read this site... anytime someone uses a word that many would consider questionable.. it auto filters it.. its not a new moderator... Hammer Handle
I try not to discriminate, but it seems whenever I am cut off, rudely disturbed, bothered, etc...it is by someone in a really nice and expensive boat. Sometimes they act like they own the lake.I have never been treated badly by a boat "cheaper" than mine. Not that I can remember in many years of fishing. My boat is not top of the line, but it helps me catch fish. That is all I need.
Deitz Dittrich
HH- I could say the exact same thing about me driving down 35W as well.. its been a while since I was cut off by an old clunker of a vehicle... I still say... its a person thing, not a bass boat thing....
Hammer Handle
Actually, I don't see the same with cars.In fact, I drive more like a nut in an old car. People also let you cut in more for they figure I don't car if I damage my car!
EBass
Quote: I still say... its a person thing, not a bass boat thing.... That's true, but I do think income plays a role in that person's thought process. As I was slowing down coming up on said spot, bassmasters in the 200H go with in casting distance of me making a huge wake as they slow down (were going 45-50)to rush to the shoreline. They saw me going there and just had to beat me to it. This was on Tonka of course, so income plays a role there for sure. I still love the lake and most people are really nice, but those few bad apples sure ruin moments. Prolly next year or the year after I'll be in the bassboat market. Then I'll look for a 14' Lund and cutem off

bronzeback01
I guess I don't understand how various symbols such as ($%#@) are ok when they are obviously intended to mean something profane? But a word that, I'm sorry, probably hear my grandma or little nephew use is wron? Well I guess I wont say stuff like that anymore.
bubs
I have been cut off in every type of boat. It don't matter, unt'ill the 8 inch reef hawg hits there boat or goes over the ski rope. It seems like it is happening more and more. ethics is going out the window.
The_Duckslayer
Quote: I agree in part with pfluemis . If I see a guy in a Tuffy Magnum - I tend to think he is a Musky fisherman , If I see a guy in a Gary Roach edition Lund - I tend to think he is after Walleye . And if I see a guy in a Bass tracker ... well I think he is after Bass . People will make assumptions like that for obvious reasons but its how they react when they learn the truth is what should be of concern . So when I come tooling up in my big green Jon boat then I must be after ducks huh? JK Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo
dave12341234
i got stopped in a canoe last year about 3 times for suspision of fishin out of season, not doin anything wrong, by the SAME warden, why...?
Eric Wettschreck
I would guess (Just a guess) that if you got stopped, more than once, by the same dude, something you were doing looked awfull suspicious to him.
Muskycrazy
Duckslayer in a big green jon boat after ducks . Hmmm.... I'm thinkin' theres a chance . Now if you have your 12 over/under sitting on the bench seat in front of you I'm thinkin' its for sure .
Spork
People can get a fancy boat all they want... but it's not the boat that catches the fish.If anything, I get a kick out of someone who comes roaring up in their $30k+ bass boat and can't catch squat while they watch us haul in fish after fish. Then they get frustrated and leave... to which I then laugh.
Hammer Handle
I will never forget the antics of a bass boat I saw about 5 years ago. 25 - 30 year old guys with no clue at all.We were on the small part of a lake that used to be separated from the big lake by a road. The road was underwater this year. Here they come...VRRRRRROOOOOMMM...BANG...run into the old road and their boat motor prop hit the now underwater culvert. "@#%@$!! Who put a road here?!?!"They finally get going, cut us off...and throw their anchor in (and I mean throw!). Then then start casting. After 10 casts or less. Anchor up, next spot. And so on. Also, when they went to the next spot, they didn't go slow....Then, after they saw us catch two bass we could hear them talking "What are they using?" Then, they come very close to us to cut us off...and tried again. We packed up without a word and went to the other side of the lake.To this day, I laugh every time I see this culvert in the road...with the big gash cut into it from their prop!
