Question

Does anybody know if you can repair MinnKota Power Drive foot pedals?I am having trouble with getting my speed control to work properly. It is 4 years old. Or am I just better off buying a new one?

The powerdrive foot pedals can go bad. I went through 2 to 3 pretty much every season and they cost $80 to get a new one, pretty spendy from Minn Kota when the foot pedals are junk. I've never heard of the foot pedals getting fixed over just getting a new one, fixing would probably cost more after labor and all that. I'd suggest cleaning first but I have no idea what you should clean it with.

I had a problem with a foot pedal a few years ago and I took it apart and gave it a good cleaning and that seemed to work.

I did try that with another pedal and it did not help so I had to replace that one.

Hope that helps.

Before I repaired the foot pedal, I would buy the add on remote. I don;t use the foot pedal any more since I bought the remote and two senders. The foot pedal stays in the storage compartment.

Switch to the remote control. The Minnkotas are excellent mtors but the foot pedals are junk. I don't understand why they can't figure it out and build something reliable.

Haven't used mine since I got the remote. smirk.gif

I third the copilot. Got mine last year off hsolist and haven't taken the pedal out of storage since. Always works and it's handy as heck. When you look at the cost of a pedal, not much more for the remote.
