Table will go between wheel wells and is removeable that is why it is not shown. I would love to hear, don't do that, do this etc. from those who have gone through the process. It will be a spring/summer project. Tandem axle trailer, hydraulic lift....Thanks

What! No hole for the potty? Whats up with that? laugh.gif Do you have bench seats that do not show up on the drawing or is all seating on a lawn or folding type chair? Looks like you have plenty room so as you are not knocking elbows with the guy next to ya. Lookin good! Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

I second the Ice fishing hole in the CAN wink.gif What better to do than take a #2 reading the latest Ice Fishing mag and hooking a big fish. And when youve been in there for an hour and your buddies are wondering whats going on when you do open the door you've got your limit grin.gif

I think it is looking very nice. My only thought is the width of your bunks and how high they will be mounted because of the wheel wells. It looks like that is the wall for windows. I think most bunks may be narrower. You may want to check on that so you can get a window above the bunk when it is folded up. Keep us posted on your progress.

If you buy pre-made mattresses for your bunk, the ones I have seen are 24" wide or 30" wide.

I would also make sure what your height will be on those wheel wells. Make sure they will be a nice height for sitting, otherwise you might want to locate other things over them to better use the available space. My house does not have wheel wells, so I dont know for sure, but I have a feeling they may be kind of high for sitting.

I second the bunk width comments. I just put bunkbeds in mine and 30 inches wide is PLENTY wide enough. Saves you another foot to walk between them. Also, even though most people curl up in one way or another while sleeping, I'd make them at least 72" long.

I have some holes near the beds so I don't even get out of bed when the reels go off at night. Hmmm...I guess that's all I got for now. Good luck!

A couple of suggestions, put pedastal seat posts in the floor, a 3' v is a small area to move around in, so move the divider wall back 12" and then add a hole in there, also a pocket door is a gamble with a house that moves cause it could get knocked off the track often. Also depending on where you get the trailer your side bunks could be over 3' off the floor making it difficult to get in and out of because of the wheel wells. I personally dont like ramp doors for the fact that when the house is down I would not want to open it on the ice and snow cause it will lay flat on any snow over 4" in depth and possibly bend the door, these doors are designed to be supported at the top and bottom not in the middle by snow and ice, go with double doors. I will try to think of more suggestions for you.

I second the pocket door idea (or scraping idea), you can just put another regular door on the V area to access the potty. Also, I would put the potty in the left corner of V. You will have more room, but still keep in mind those V's aren't that big so depending on how many things you are going to store there, it won't leave much leg room. A shelf/cabinet in the V area would help that problem also. I have pictures of mine that I could send you if you want. I have 30" bunks in the house and they are plenty wide.

Try this out on paper.

On the right side of your V about midway put an interior wall to right about where you flip up counter goes. Put exterior door on V in that area and bathroom door on that new wall.

It will shrink your bathroom a bit but give you more floor space and area for more seating storage fishing.

I disagree on the bathroom hole. I leave the door to mine shut almost always for obvious reasons and also for cold storage. Only when someone is gonna use it do we open the door for a minute or 2 to heatup.

Buy a small portable with flat floor (eskimo makes a nice one) and use that for the potty. Or make a porta potty that will fit trough the double doors and rest it outside on a pallet. (less slipping) Free's up all that space for storage, which you can never have enough.

I would think about not doing the atv door, you can do so much more without it. I really like having a table that folds down into a double bed, which you could do in the back instead of the door. in my opion you got to have a table, somplace to play cards and other games when fishing is slow. I also hear the atv doors always have a good draft coming through. just my 2 cents! good luck

Another thing, if i ever build another fishouse i would go with a 6 1/2 foot wide, the wheel wells take up most of the space you gain anyway and it would be much easier to build.

What type of suspension are you using? If you have spring suspension you won't be sitting over the wheel well. You need more clearance.

Bunks...Standard mattresses are generally 4" thick, 24" or 30" wide and 6 feet long. But in order to make them fold tight to the wall you will need them built out apprx. 4" wider to accomodate the mattress thickness and hinges.

I had custom made mattresses made for mine 4"x 24" x 75" long. Since they're alittle narrower I wanted to be able to lay out straight. It is the same length as a standard twin bed that way. SO IF you went 30" wide when the bunks were down you would need around 68" of total bunk. That only leaves you with 24" between the bunks assuming your using 2" walls.

Hinge the bathroom door as earlier suggested. But keep it inside so you can use it like a closet. I put a 12 volt fan in the wall in mine with to help with possible smell. Works great, and the used a dryer vent as the ductwork and it only opens when the fan is on to keep the cold out.

And I am missing something. You only have 2 places to sleep but 7 holes. Where is the other one or two people gonna sleep? Just curious. I would want at least 8 holes in a house that size.

I have a house the same size as your building that I designed. Your more than welcome to come and see it sometime to steal some ideas.

I dont like the ATV doors either, too smelly in the house. I'd add another window in the left rear area. On cloudy days you need more light otherwise your using up valuable battery power for lights. Hope this helps and good luck.

They sell the bed on hsolist for $275. Go to hsolist and search for ice house on sporting goods.

I thought about one of those beds after hearing about them, is there anywhere to view them over the web? I guess I am curious as to how easy they are to operate, cost etc. Thanks

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
