You might want to check with your local bait store, most have an exchange program or may just sell them out right. Another thing is you could check with Cabela's and see if they do. I do believe they carry most strikemaster products.

Check the strikemaster web site. They offer that service too. I purchased a second set of blades as a back up and if one set gets dull I send it in and in a couple of days I get the sharpened ones back.

Maybe the guy misunderstood me. I might just swing out to Big Lake since it will be on my way on my next trip. Their auger extensions are dirt cheap online and I could do the blade exchange and have them look over the whole unit. Maybe I'll check out their other goodies too. smirk.gif

I got my $5 extension and new blades. I just wanted to pass along what the folks at Strikemaster told me. Do not exchange blades at stores. They showed me a whole tub full of blades that were brought back that were store sharpened blades. Strikemaster doesn't sharpen blades. They are scraped, melted down, and used for something else. Their blades are one time deals. When you exchange with them, you get new blades and a discount since they get the old ones back for scrap.

Blades sharpened at stores (and he showed me some) are basically rebuffed. They will wear down your auger and won't work very well, if at all. If you see scuff marks, tell them you aren't interested.

I found the drive up to Big Lake was well worth my time. The folks were very friendly, I wasn't charged at all for service, they threw in some decals, they passed along the blade information as well as a few pointers that I started using. (How to better start and stop my engine) They also gave me a free stand up point (I had recently lost mine unbeknownst to me). Now my auger runs like a hot knife through butter. Red Lake here I come, extension and all!!!I can't believe I was cutting so slow without noticing earlier. I will definately be returning there in a year or two to keep my auger in top operating form.

Top notch group over there and a Minnesota company. What more could you ask for?

I have to agree. I stopped in there on Friday the 9th on the way up north to pick up the $5 extension. Very helpful and friendly! I had also asked them about the blade exchange.

My buddies and I stopped in to Strikemaster in Big Lake a few weeks back. Buddy had a broken auger (handle I think) and they took care of it right then and there, no charge. While we were standing there, I realized I had been planning on changing out my blades, so I asked about an exchange. Hauled mine in, they did the exchange on my 8" Lazer and installed them for me and tweaked the cut angle a bit to make it cut better, all for $22. Well worth it. The power head is an old 49cc model, around 20 years old. The thing runs like a top now, hot knife through butter! Can't recommend their service any higher. They are on the south side of town on Hwy 10, west side of the highway. If you are coming from the cities, they are not too far past the curve in the highway that goes up over the railroad tracks.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
