Wavey Davey
Where in the north metro can I get Strikemaster 2000 (8") standard auger blades exchanged or sharpened? Thanks
0 JAR JAR
You might want to check with your local bait store, most have an exchange program or may just sell them out right. Another thing is you could check with Cabela's and see if they do. I do believe they carry most strikemaster products.Jar Jar
0 bobberal
Check the strikemaster web site. They offer that service too. I purchased a second set of blades as a back up and if one set gets dull I send it in and in a couple of days I get the sharpened ones back. 0 Wavey Davey
Found 'em at Vados Bait in Spring Lake Park, thanks for the replies. It's the first time I've needed to replace them and didn't know where to look. With the below zero temps the ice is getting thick and sharp blades will come in handy. 0 setterguy
D- Rock in New Brighton does it.
0 FishingwithJake
Go to Joe's Sporting Goods in St.Paul. They are located just south of Hwy. 36 on Rice street. I bring my blades in there every year, sometimes twice a year.
0 kunk
Would also recommend D-Rock in New Brighton. Great guy. Will do all he can to help.
0 Scott M
What does D-Rock charge? I called Joe's and they said it would be like $22 bucks. I could buy new off the shelf for that. If Gimp's is only 7-8 bucks, the choice seems obvious.
0 efgh
For the guys in southern Mn., Axles bait Waterville Mn., a sponser, sharpens your auger blades while you wait.
0 FishingwithJake
Did you mention that you were exchanging blades? I pay half that when I exchange my blades at Joe's.
0 Scott M
Maybe the guy misunderstood me. I might just swing out to Big Lake since it will be on my way on my next trip. Their auger extensions are dirt cheap online and I could do the blade exchange and have them look over the whole unit. Maybe I'll check out their other goodies too. 0 Scott M
I got my $5 extension and new blades. I just wanted to pass along what the folks at Strikemaster told me. Do not exchange blades at stores. They showed me a whole tub full of blades that were brought back that were store sharpened blades. Strikemaster doesn't sharpen blades. They are scraped, melted down, and used for something else. Their blades are one time deals. When you exchange with them, you get new blades and a discount since they get the old ones back for scrap.Blades sharpened at stores (and he showed me some) are basically rebuffed. They will wear down your auger and won't work very well, if at all. If you see scuff marks, tell them you aren't interested.I found the drive up to Big Lake was well worth my time. The folks were very friendly, I wasn't charged at all for service, they threw in some decals, they passed along the blade information as well as a few pointers that I started using. (How to better start and stop my engine) They also gave me a free stand up point (I had recently lost mine unbeknownst to me). Now my auger runs like a hot knife through butter. Red Lake here I come, extension and all!!!I can't believe I was cutting so slow without noticing earlier. I will definately be returning there in a year or two to keep my auger in top operating form.Top notch group over there and a Minnesota company. What more could you ask for? 0 jwhjr
I have to agree. I stopped in there on Friday the 9th on the way up north to pick up the $5 extension. Very helpful and friendly! I had also asked them about the blade exchange.
0 TUMBLEWEED
Where in Big Lake are they located?? I have an older 3 H.P. unit I want tuned, and might pick-up some bladesfor my express....
0 B@ssmaster
My buddies and I stopped in to Strikemaster in Big Lake a few weeks back. Buddy had a broken auger (handle I think) and they took care of it right then and there, no charge. While we were standing there, I realized I had been planning on changing out my blades, so I asked about an exchange. Hauled mine in, they did the exchange on my 8" Lazer and installed them for me and tweaked the cut angle a bit to make it cut better, all for $22. Well worth it. The power head is an old 49cc model, around 20 years old. The thing runs like a top now, hot knife through butter! Can't recommend their service any higher. They are on the south side of town on Hwy 10, west side of the highway. If you are coming from the cities, they are not too far past the curve in the highway that goes up over the railroad tracks.
