wiskodie1
hi dmoore nice to meet ya My families trailer is straight across the bay from Mylies on the far east side, tan and brown its been there for about 20 years. You might have noticed the loud parties and large bonfires in the front yard from time to time, some of the cabin owners on your side of the bay call us the ant farm , my Aunt and uncle just built there cabin last year, on the south side of ours. Most of my family is up there right now for the new years, and my little brother and his girlfriend might be going up the weekend after that. I’ll be headed up there some time after the 20th of Jan for a week or two. I cant wait!!!! Enjoy AZ, there will still be a bit of winter to enjoy up there when you get back take care Matt Jones
dmoore
Thanks for the reply. I know your trailer. Met some of your family a few years ago. Won't be getting up to the lake this weekend. Blew a piston on one our sleds. Maybe the following week.Dick
wiskodie1
Well its about 3 weeks out from your trip, haven’t heard much about Morson since my last post, my family was up for the new years, said it was a great time, not a lot of snow, but still enough to ride the sleds on the east side of the lake. They didn’t do any fishing, spent the whole time running around on the sleds, dad said there was at least 16 inches of ice across the whole lake, except in some of the more narrow areas that have lots of water flowing under the ice, painted rock channel, back side of burrow, rabbit point. Those are some of the ones I hear a lot about. I did run across rabbit point a few times last time I was up, but I was doing 80 and didn’t feel liking stopping the sled to do an ice check, I also heard there are some big cracks and ridges out west around the fox islands, we found one place to cross last time I was up, but I guess its worse now. I’ll Have to take a look when I get there. Until then ill just have to dream about it all and hope for more snow. I would love to hear from anyone that has first hand info on the bad spots on the lake, and any new info on ice and fishing conditions. Well I hope to see you all up there Until then, take care, have fun Matt PS. MARK!!!!!!!!!!! Why haven’t you posted any info or sent me an email, I’m dieing out here. Scoot
Looks like I'm pretty well screwed as far as joining in. I'd love to make this outing, but too much going on. Little one at home, work busy as heck, too many obligations. Have fun and be sure to take lots of pics and post the results (with the pics). Again thanks to Ken V. for suppling us with a snowmobile that ran like a top. Hit Hay on the way back for crappies. they where there but not real hungry. kept 9. Also let me know if there's anything I can do. Hope to meet some of you FMers. Well Fed

MuskieDowg
What's up cuz?! Are you going to be at the cabin the weekend of Feb. 17th and 18th? It's not the weekend of the Morson tourney but I'm going up with BJ, Tippy, and the Livingoods. I think Matt will already be offshore again by that time and will probably miss this trip and the Morson tourney weekend. He's driving from Houston right now and should be here tonight. Pretty sure he'll be at the cabin sometime next week for an extended period of time. Lucky #$%&.

benelli_dude2002
Hey Ken! not sure if you figured out who I am but my dad is your neighbour on the east end of the bay across the road. I would have loved to fished with you guys next weekend. With my job I can only squeeze in a day of fishing here and there. Good luck out there! Let us know how the laker action goes. Wild Thing
Have a blast everyone and be safe! Wish I could join you but I'll be about 25 miles southwest on the Big Traverse with a bunch of drunks. 15th annual trip that I can't miss. You'll be sledding right by my cabin on your way out on the lake! Stay warm and keep jigging! See you up there next month. WT
Hemlock
I too will be thinking of you guys...back at work now after three weeks off. The only way I can give some of my staff some much deserved time off is if I work, so that's what I'm doing. Have fun! Post pics.

Eastwind
Ken is correct! The Extravaganza was a great time. The fishing was fun, a little cold yes, but fun. The cabin was very nice, the food was excellent. You all missed a great time. Hopefully, more FMers can make it next year. For those of you that like to ice fish for Lakers, Walleyes and Crappies, I highly reccomend Pelican Landing. Ken showed us some good spots to try for both Lakers and Walleyes. The sled he rented to me ran great and we even got help retrieving my friend's sled that seized up just South of the Whitefish Portage. Obviously, great service. benelli_dude2002
Sounds like it was a decent turnout. My dad was going to go but after he heard how cold it was gonna be he stayed home where it was warm. Must be a part of getting old or something. We were however out for lakers on a different lake on that friday. Our biggest was 33inch, about 13 lb. I wanted to stop in at Pelican Landing and say HI but it was getting late and we wanted to get home. I was tempted to go back up the next day and fish but I didnt think the wife would go for that, fishing 2 days in a row especially when I had to go back to work sunday morning. Heading up again next friday with some guys from work, hopefully hook into some more laker action. I hope I can make it next year for this event. I can help spread the word about 2nd extravaganza for next year. Have to keep us posted. Not going too far home this weekend with this cold snap. Glad to hear it turned out and there was some fish caught. Gonna mark it on my calender for next year. Be safe everyone! Brian
