I run the Nav Chip in my 332C and in My H20. On the laptop I run Lakemaster Contour Pro Minnesota. An older Garmin GPS that I bought used for $40.00 is linked to the laptop and acts as the antannae. It is then as simple as opening up the program and enabling tracking laugh.gif . I also added a Verizon card for wireless internet access practically anywhere.....HSO Outdoors wherever I am~~~~~Priceless blush.gifgrin.gifwink.gif

Had some requests for close ups of the lights, so here you go, the only down fall i have noticed is the wires that come with the light are light weight speaker wire, but no real major problems.

Just bought 4 sets of 48cm long waterproof white led lights from

http://www.besthonLED.com/

So is 4 led light strips overkill in my otter lodge? Will I need 4 vex batteries or just 2? I could always just install 3 of them, but they are only 19" long and I think I could fit 2 of them on the main horizontal bar in the middle of my otter and 2 along the horizontal bar that runs overhead of the door.

I will post some pics once I receive the lights and get em set up...

I have read all the great ideas in these posts and decided to go the route of the LED backup light. I just got mine in the mail this weekend and have a question about how to wire it. I apologize for the "dumb" questions but I am worthless with stuff like this.

The light has a positive, negative, and a ground wire coming out of the light. Do I need to just connect the positive and negative to my battery and ground the white wire to something metal? I did a little testing with it and it seems to work with just the positive hooked up and the white wire grounded but then not sure what to do with the negative lead.

Also, I need to get longer wire, is there a certain gauge I need to get or does it not really matter. Thanks for all the good info!

Swill- I would have to say at most you will only need 2, if you add 4 i think i will be able to see you over here in whire bear lake when you turn them on laugh.gif. I have one in my eskimo quickflip 2, in the front and can see the floor verywell. I have decied to add a rope light in the back for a more subdued lighting, as well as to aid in being able to see in my sled. So i would have to say one in the front and one in the back would work verywell for you. I am running mine off a 12v 12 amp vex battery i got from ax man, i ran the one light off a fully charged battery for 4 days straight, then it started to dim a little. Good luck, and maybe i can come suntan in your portable sometime grin.gif

I used a "wire clip" that you can buy for conecting wires for trailers and attached the ground to the negative wire, I have had no problems with it like that. Just get some trailer wire, I forget what gauge mine is, but about anything should work. You can get a 25' roll of black and a roll of red (same wire, different colored covering) at Northern. You can also get the wire clips there. You can also buy the wire tips that work with the posts on the battery there too. I don't know how to explain what those are, but if your looking around their wiring section you should see them. I used a 4" maxxima light with 54 bulbs and the thing works mint. I used the trailer mounting bracket and wired it into my house. Hope this helps

Hey Pauk W.- 2 Questions-

Whats the info on that small LED light you got from Gander? how many LED's, where in the store, price? Looks like it would be good for a 1 man portable.

Where did you get the 2 wire pigtails with one + and one - wire? I need to wire up a freinds house and he wants the ability to add an addition light so I would like to wire it in with a pigtail so he can disconnect it if its just him in the house. I would guess Fleet, Northern, or Menards.

Thanks-

ha ha walldoggie!

You would be able to see my ice house up here in Big Lake, if you were not in the Little Bar in White Bear Lake evening.... grin.gif (I used to live in Hugo and we went to the Little bar for the stiff mixers...) whew...I am getting hung over just thinking about that place smirk.gif

Godd points on the lights... I now think I will test the location and number of ligths in my otter before pick a final set up. Maybe I will end up selling the extra ones on the forum?

I can't wait to get those lights in the mail!

Nitro,

The small LED ran 19.99 and it is about an inch wide and 4 inches long. It has two rows of LED's for a total of around 22 bulbs. They were in with the trailer lighting packages, picked it up for under 20.00. As far as the pigtails I got them a Mills for 1.99 each. They were also in with the trailer wiring plugs.

Everyone that has taken a look at the lighting package I put together has wanted the same. It is low profile, durable and gives off more than enough light. What's more you can leave it on until the shack is packed up and you're ready to travel.....flip off the switch and you're on your way. A lot of people were inquiring about it at the Ice Show.

Paul-

Do you recall the manufacture's name at all, or where its made? Maybe if Gander is out they can order more, or people can try to goggle the manufacture and see where else they can buy them at. I am still sticking with my 4" round backup light with 54 bulbs for my lodge, but that 22 bulb one looks like the ticket for the early ice one man shack.

Deadhead has the ones from Sportsmans Guide.

same brand of lights, thunder bay, but I picked mine up at reeds. They work slick, just make sure to position the rope so that the LEDs face you, to get the most lighting.

I had my dad pick up some truck marker LED lights at a truck stop in Clearwater, and they work great! He also bought the wire that had the two prongs that plug into the back of the light. All I had to do is put clips on the end of the wires and hook it up to the vex. Battery. They didn't have clear white lights, but they still work. I will be hanging them up tonight in the fish house. I will try to get pictures for you all to see.

Anyone notice the Gander rope lights are 2 feet shorter and more than double the price from last year.

I picked up 6 foot rope lights for $6.99+tax last year now thier 4 feet long and $14.99+tax.

Oh well, still the best deal in my book.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
