yeah i like them they are bright enough for me, ppl who like to sun tan in there house might want 2. But i just want to be able to see. got them at best hong kong. you know the rest. The only draw back is they come directly from singapore. shipping is cheap think the whole light was like 17 bucks. But it took 2 weeks, and you have to sign for them. But other then that great company good stuff so far.

Ps another good thing about them is they are fully incased in a clear rubber of some sorts so completly waterproff and flexible.. So Haad it also looks like you are in maplewood so i am probably about 5 min away if you want to take a peek before you buy.

Walldoggie,

I live in north Maplewood near the mall, so we are somewhat neighbors. I'd like to see your light setup if you are offering. I think it's exactly what I was looking for. You going to be around tonight, say around 7:00?

What about using a 12 volt trouble light in my permanent? Anyone do that? They come with the clips and I can just hook it up to my battery along with my car stereo. After the first year I can do something more permanent. What do ya think?

Gander Mountain sells string lights similiar to the clam ones but they are much brighter and only half the cost ($15). They are the First Ice brand and it doesnt look like any of the stores have them yet but Maplewood will be getting about 40. They do have a set on display to take a look at.

reeds ($9) and sportsmans guide ($13) are selling 6' 12V LED rope lights, made by Thunder Bay. They come with alligator clips, but I modified mine with a female spade end so they can run directly off of a vex battery.

Just tested my home made 12 volt light today and it works great. I made it from 12 to 15 feet of old heavy electric cord and a light socket and a couple of clips from the hardware store, plus one 12 volt light. Clips attach to my troll motor battery and the light works great. Lights up the 6 X 8 fish house for three long nights of fishing before the battery needs to be charged.

I finally installed my LED lights in my portable tonight. I installed the 6' rope lights along the hoops on the ceiling. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I am going to install some reflectix on the ceiling. That should help reflect the LED light better, as well as insulate the house.

Here are some pictures. Every picture, except for the first one, was taken without a flash and only the ambient light from the LEDs were used.

These aren't 'superbright' by any means, but they only cost me $18. There is more than enough light to tie knots, bait hooks, etc. I didn't think they turned out that bad. I ran my Browning Black Ice LED lantern while the lights were on, it didn't seem to make much of a difference. If I need more light I can always run my LED headlamp with the superbrights on, but I doubt I'll need to use much. I might run another string of lights along the back hoop for some extra light, I haven't decided yet. I'll see how bright it gets in there when the reflectix is installed... cool.gif

I know alot of you guys are running LED's and they are super bright. When i am fishing i like it dimmer but then when i get a fish or i have to tie on a new jig i like it lighter. I was just wondering if any of you have put dimmer switches on them so you can regulate how much light come out.

Can anyone help me out with wiring these LED's. I'd like to wire them (1157's) to be able to do low or high, which I think I read somewhere is possible. So I assume I'll need a switch that toggles 3 positions, rather than an on/off type toggle switch. Sorry for the basic question, but I'm not that experienced with electrical stuff.

BD, I installed a dimmer on my 2 LED back-up lights in my portable. I like to have plenty of light when I'm re-tying or pulling up a fish, so I thought a dimmer would work fine.

I'll have to test it in reel time to see if it is practical.

For fish house lighting the electrical dept guy at Menards recommend that I use 12 volt incadescent light bulbs in a utility light ( cut off the plug and replace with alligator clips.) Does anyone know if I can use any standard lamp fixture with a 12 volt incandescent bulb? This would seem to offer a range of wide lighting options. Do the 12 volt incandescent bulbs draw a lot of current? Thanks

Yes, only 2 leads are necessary w/ 12 volt wiring; +/-. Keep them straight and you'll be fine.

_YES_. I switched out of the 12 volt incan. bulbs for LED's this year for specifically that reason. The LEDs should allow my battery to last MUCH MUCH longer (A couple of dark nights last year)

I was at Fleet Farm and saw some rope lights there. Anyone know if these are bright or if they are not very good ones? Gander doesn't have their's in yet, just the clam ones. I talked to a guy there and he said that their version are a lot brighter. Just wondering how Fleet's might compare.

I just picked up a couple of LED "strips" from overseas and they are really bright. Certainly not mood lighting, and cheap, too. I'll have pics up shortly - they blow LED ropes out of the water.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
