You know it Ryan. Rob and I are looking at coming up the the first weekend in Dec I believe it would be the 1st to the 3rd. Ice permitting of course. I will be calling you here in the next few weeks to talk. After deer hunting greenbacks will be the next thing on my mind.

Like I say I am planning to be up there the first weekend in Dec. as long as Ryan tells me there is enough ice to walk out if not the first weekend then for sure the second weekend. I will probably try to get up again over Christmas time as well. Anyone interested in meeting up drop me a line. Like I say Ryan I will give you a shot in a towards the middle of this next month.

the end of feb can be excellent..I did my best work in march last year..caught 7-8 masters in 5 days..

there have been othere areas found just outside the mouth of the river, that have been producing better than the river itself..lots of places to sled also!!

I would love to come up there. I've only been fishing out of perms on ML. I am trying to go portable this year. If you come up with a list of lodging, etc. I would love a copy of it. I am thinking about coming up with a friend or our foreign exchange student from Germany.

Only thing I would say about bring a foreign exchange student make sure all they have the proper paperwork for going into Canada. Back I high school I we had a exchange student and her Visa for the US wasn't good enough she need one for canada too so check before you take off with him.

For those thinking about heading up this way in pursuit of big 'eyes and pike , you should consider

the best lodging facility the region has to offer!

We offer great accommodations and they're located on the banks of the Red!

All guests of CATS ON THE RED have access to up-to-date angling information as well as the hot spots. Are goal is to provided you with that all important information that is needed to ensure your trip is a success!

The '06/'07 hard water season is right around the corner. My prediction is one of total optimisim, that there will be vast amounts of huge walleye in the Red from first ice thru December. The place to be in March is Lake Winnipeg, at times the action can be breath taking out there! Our guests will have access to GPS cooridates while accessing this massive exspanse of ice!

Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information on our services, or if you need any assistance in planning your trip....." we are here to serve you"!

Marine Man and Ifalls we should hook up and head north together. I want to hit it for about 4 days maybe in late Feb?

I might be open for that depending on what is happening at work. Marine Man would be out though because his wife is expecting a kid around that time of the year.

My vote for the best lodging and up to date scoop is a no-brainer for me, that would be "Cats on the Red". The new all season cabins are just what the Dr ordered for the anglers interested in a package for 1 up to 10 or more.

As soon as the ice gets ready and I am able, I'll be there. I won't miss the piggy hunt this season for nut'n...Eh.

You bet-ch-ya, I'm sure we will have several groups schooling up from the FM area and staying at COTR. We may have to book & boogie a few groups from my GM regulars. wink.gif

It's getting me all goose-pimply just thinking on how good this ice season on the lower Red just may be. ooo.gif

    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
