PP Concerns

Not that kinda PP - Power Pro is what I'm talking bout.

On the 30lb spool I bought it had lil melted looking balls (I don't know how else to describe it) every so often. I'm like [PoorWordUsage] is this after spending 12.99 for 150 yards.

I took it back to Gander and they stripped off the old line and put new 30lb PP back on. This didn't have said balls.

It seemed fine until recently and maybe it's because it's getting used, but I had several break offs when the fish hit. Like it broke 15 yards from the lure. Which I guess is a good way to break as I tracked the floating line down and got my buzzbait, but still...

I don't ever recall having any issues with quality in the years past and I've used PP for 4 years now.

Have they become so corporate and are more interested in the "bottom line" than producing a quality braid?

Thoughts if anyone cares to share.

PS - I use the 20 and 10lb PP and those have been solid.

Yeah,

I had similar issues with the flaws in/on the line. Most of the issues were from earlier batches in the year, but some of that product may still be around. Check the spool before purchasing. There was a post I recall on the "equipment" forum a while back, but searching on the words "power pro" returns just about every post on that, as those are operative words for describing equipment!

Read my Suffix post on here, I'm looking for alternatives and am giving it a try.

i know that last summer (05) there were some copycat power pro out there that was in the same box and claimed to be the same thing however illegal it was junk. I know one guy who bought a bulk spool for cheap and he got what he paid for. I am sure there is a customer service number and they can tell you something about it as to i am sure they heard about it. It maybe one of these spools that are coming out crappy. I hope Power pro hasn't gotten "too corporate" i love there stuff. Best wishes. ike

Even if it's over 6 months old? It's funny as the prior week I caught a 17" fighting smallie, then a wee lil bass hits it and snap. I think I will call and complain. Why not, I spent hundreds of dollars on their product over the years. It's a love/hate relationship now tongue.gif

How can I say this without sounding bad......

Simply forget to mention the 6 months part when you call them! wink.gif

Honestly, from what I've heard they have been very upfront and have looked to "make it right" with their customers.

I ran into the same problem on my 65lb this spring. I emailed them and never got so much as a reply.

I don't think it affects the integrity, it's just cosmetic. I would have appreciated a reply however smirk.gif

I never contact a business by E-Mail I always call them and if anybody who has bad Power Pro calls them you will recieve a Brand new spool like many of us have.....Plus you can keep your flawed PP which is good line other then the lint balls that formed during the manufacturing process.
