dfv87
My daughter (8) caught her first "big" walleye this weekend. A solid 26.5" 7Lb fish. Very thick and healthy. We CPRed it and even though she really wanted to keep it she let it go. We were trolling X-raps/Husky Jerks over a rocky point on Pokegama lake just after dark and she hooked up on the first pass. She reeled the fish in alone and after I had to raise the motor up as the fish ran right at it we brought her on board for some Photos and hugs. Not quite a trophy but you couldn't tell her that. Digital pics hopefully will ready soon, (not my digital camera) and my disposeable one has a few pics yet to go. Anyway I had to share the news! tunrevir
That is how to get a little one "hooked" on fishing. Great job to both of you on the "catch". Might have to make more room in the boat more often now! Tunrevir~
Jeremy airjer W
Can't wait to see the pics! One question, was she using a "snoopy" pole?
dfv87
No Snoopy pole, 7' med action with a line counter reel. The snoopy rod we leave to the professionals.

Eric Wettschreck
I can honestly say this "Big Guy" has yet to catch a walleye that big. Congrats to the young-un.
Powerstroke
Quote:A solid 26.5" 7Lb fish....Not quite a trophy but you couldn't tell her that. My biggest walleye is a 26.5" that was just over 6lbs. That is a trophy in my book, especially in MN. Trophy is in the eye of the beholder and your daughter may never catch a walleye that big again and if she does, you know she will always remember it. Good job dad!! My 2 girls have outfished their old man more than once so I know the pride you have in your daughter.
Corey Bechtold
That's Awesome! Teaching CPR is a good way to preserve our fishing in the future. A great lesson that starts with the kids. Good job, Corey Bechtold
