Foot wear

hey i am curious as to what you guys wear on your feet when you know you have to stand on the deck all day. I have been wear sandalls and they suck because at the end of the day they have wrecked me. Just curious if anyone has any solid ideas as to what to put my feet in that are rugged, can get wet, and like anythign don't cost 1000 dollars. ike

Hey Ike, what kind of sandals are you wearing? I wear Tevas 100% of the time in the boat. They give you enough support that my feet never get tired or sore, they're designed to get wet & dry off quickly, & the grip wet rock and most other surfaces really well.

They are, however, expensive, & they do need a break-in period of shorter uses before you start wearing them all day.

I got a pair of Merrel shoes from Gander, they are mesh with a regular sole, they were like $80, but they are awesome

I have a pair also, very comfortable outdoor shoe/ great in the boat and well worth the money.

I got some sandals at Cabela's - their brand - that were intended to get wet and dry quickly like above and really love them - they were only @ $40/pr - this is their second season and they are still going strong. Might want to check out their selection - can go whole hog for the gore-tex too if that's what you're wanting.

I normally wear a pair of $30 Adidas sandals. My feet feel just fine and normally once I'm in the boat, I some times just kick them off to prevent the "sandal tan" of the feet. Not very fond of the "white stripe across the top of my foot" tan style. grin.gif

I wear 1o year old Addidas like Run-DMC used to wear. They aren't very comfortable, and they stink real bad. Just can't part with them tho. They slide right on and are good lawn-mowing shoes, too.

I have worn Tevas, Chacos, and Reef sandals, but this year have worn Keen's. They are awesome. About 90-95$ and well worth it. I just bought a pair for my dad. I like them because I often 'wet wade' and they have great toe protection. Other sandals have had good support and comfort but I would end up with bloody toes. This sandal has been great in the BWCA for portaging. They sell a leather/felt version($95), but the Rubber/cordora nylon version ($90) is best for fishing.

I cut the toes out of my old running turned lawnmowing shoes out and have been wearing them for two years in the water and maybe 7 out of the water before that. thrifty.

as Jeff Foxworthy would say "When you cut holes in your shoes and call them sandals, you might be a red neck"

hehe jk grin.gif

This thread is hilarious!! Almost spit coffee out of my nose when I envisioned cutting the toes out of my lawn-mowing shoes... grin.gif

Seriously... guess I never gave my "shoes" much thought. Must not spend as much time "on a deck" as you guys. Most of the time is spent sitting in a small fishing boat, usually just wear "tennis" shoes. If they get wet, they get wet and will dry before they get worn the next time.

Still, with all of you wearing sandals... might have to give my Teva's a shot! Thanks.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
