Valv
Quote: Wouldn't disagree with any of the movies mentioned here, I think "Silverado" needs to be included. Uuhhh yes, Silverado, I love the very begin when he opens the door after the shooting and the music begins Cold One SD...that was a good line to quote Sharon Stone wasn't in Silverado. genegodawa
How's about "City Slickers"?All those mentioned are good. I especially remember seeing McClintock in the movies when I was little. And I remember as a youngster my Dad would always watch Gene Autry. And I always liked to watch Roy Rogers and The Lone Ranger. And what was that show with Walter Brennan ("dag nabit")? And of course Rawhide and Wagon Wheel. And I always wanted to try using a gun to shoot a bottle down off the fence from 50 paces.....never got to try it though.Oh yeah, and the sequel to Back to the Future when they are in the old West was kinda neat too. Harmonica Bear
Hmmm...Some years later, Mrs. Ansonia Feathers made the arduous journey to Hodgeman County to visit the last resting place of her only daughter. William Munny had long since disappeared with the children... some said to San Francisco where it was rumored he prospered in dry goods. And there was nothing on the marker to explain to Mrs. Feathers why her only daughter had married a known thief and murderer, a man of notoriously vicious and intemperate disposition. Unforgiven ranks up there. Little Bill Daggett: Well, sir, you are a cowardly son of a (Contact Us Please)! You just shot an unarmed man! Will Munny: Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend. Outlaw Josey Wales has got to be my favorite though. Double D
I'll definitely agree with the films mentioned already. High Plains Drifter (the man with no name) is a personal favorite.I also noticed no one mentioned Blazing Saddles yet!! How could a classic like that be overlooked!!DD
zamboni
Quote:Sorry fellas but I gotta disagree with ya. The Outlaw Josey Wales is hands down the best western ever. Top 5 in best movie ever made."You gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?""To He!! with those boys, buzzards gotta eat as well as worms.""Mr. Carpetbagger, there's somethin round these parts we like to call a Missoura boat ride.""How's it on stains?" DID you guys notice/know-- The guy Josey kills and spits on his forehead is Uncle Leo from Seinfeld? Of course the first few times I seen this movie- Seinfeld wasn't in existance- but a few years ago I was watching it and I noticed it.

Have you ever tried shooting a running rattlesnake with a pistol (or any single bullet gun) ???? Looks very easy in the movies... you just try it... McGurk
A couple of newer ones to try are The Jack Bull (good cast and and a do-the-right-thing-no-matter-what story) and for a different continent's version of a western, try Ned Kelly (I know, I know, I'm not much of a Heath Ledger fan either, but this movie works, no "Brokeback" anywhere or anytime). Stumbled across both of them on HBO, and was pretty impressed with both considering neither one got a whole lot of hype.
straydog
Any western with John Wayne, or Jim Stewert, but what about Gunsmoke? Its not a movie but a western series that I try to watch as often as I can.
