Annual Totals

Dietz started the season with a goal 1,000 Bass. The bar has been set high but I have been keeping a tally. I thought maybe we could have a post devoted to where everyone is at for the year. I did not get much fishing in this weekend due to heat. I thing another neat number and would be a catch per hour ratio as some get on the water much more then others.

Anyway I am now at 345 for the year. My next trip out will hopefully be Wednesdey as a cool front on the way.

My bass efforts have been lacking quiet a bit so far this year (I think...this is my first year keeping track). In 16 trips Ive only got 74 fish to show for my efforts. Looks like Im averaging about 4.6 fish per an outing.

Ive been slacking in the bass department since Ive been putting in lots of time chasing muskies. My cousin and I have a bet going with payouts for first and biggest 'ski.

The past two weeks have been rough for me. I seem to catching a lot more pike instead of real fish. If I had to guess I would say I am catching 6-7 pike for every bass. I'm not sure why that is but I hope it changes soon.

Here are my totals for 2006 as of 31 July 2006:

January 13 open water in MN

Febuary 20 open water in MN and trip to Texas.

March and April Went fishing but no catching

May 21

Jun 107

July 92 with a tourney tonight, I need 8 more.

256 total fish. 60 total trip with CPTA 4.14

409 bass, 151 pike to date. I go out most mornings, from daylight to 9:00 a.m. I have a small boat, so wind conditions are always a factor.

When wind and temperature allow, I will fish evenings also. Haven't been out in the evening in a long time.

Most all of the bass on spinnerbaits and wacky worms or jig and pig and all the pike on spinnerbaits.

For the bass, I use the spinnerbait as a search bait and then the worms when I have found some bass to target.

Weedbeds with adjacent deeper water and weed edges have been the key for me all season.

I have found that -6 fish per hour is a good catch rate. When they are active and chasing spinnerbaits, this can be a lot higher.

This morning I got an overdue humiliation. One bass in 2 hours of fishing everything I had. Headed back to the A/C early.

Bait, Congratulations. It looks like you are the first reported member of the 400 club. I know Deitz gets out quite a bit and has not yet put up his total. So he may be a 400 member as well.

My totals are smallies and Largemouth. With smallmouth making up about 30-40% of the total.

Sluggo, looks like you are about to join the 200 club. Nice to see the size and averages as well. Next year I think I may look at a catch per hour ratio to guage my effecieny on the water. I also only dedicate about 60% of my time chasing Bass. My dad likes to fish pike and pannies so I devote time to that passion. I also like to fish walleye in the spring and especially in the fall on Mille acs for the big pigs under a full moon.

Nice total Deitz, I wish I would have started keeping track... Too late though. Next year. I'm sure I'm not at that level. I'm guessing around the 200 mark probably. Anyway, what is your largest length and weight out of your total? My fishing is begining to slow down. Teacher technology work shop at school next two weeks 8 am till noon. (It is a paid workshop). Teaching @ School and Masters program begins in Sept. I'm getting sad just thinking about that. frown.gif

Pretty close to being done for the season...kind of. Almost into the 500 club with 472 combined largemouth and smallmouth. I hope size isn't an issue cause I have caught some of the smallest smallies you guys can imagine, but also a lot of monster bucketmouths but those were early. I can't get on a good big bass bite lately. If I did it correctly the pic below is one of the better fish from this season.

Wow, nice fish. I am still chasing the 400 mark and may go out and toss for a bit tonight for an hour at dusk.

I still will do a few trips up to the cabin on Vermillion and can usually get good numbers. I am pretty sure I will not hit the 1,000 mark Deitz set the bar at but should fall somewhere in the 500-750 mark. Once fall comes I target the pig walleyes under the full moon on Milleacs but still get on the river for smallies and some large mouth number so who knows.

I don't believe we have any 500 members yet this year. A few in the 400's and a group in the 300's

I am interested to see what the final tallies are.

Deitz, What do you Teach? & Where is Lindstrom? And Matt, How big was that bass in the pic you posted? Looks huge. Congrats on the nice fish and the fantastic total. My largest of the summer and ever is a fat 5lb 12 ozer coming in at a squat 20.5 inches. I do like the idea of keeping a tally. Not to compete so much, but to measure your own skill and learning curve. It's league night tonight.... I love thursdays for that reason. Washington or Cokato.... I am now locked into 4th place and have no hope of catching 3rd. I just don't want to drop to 5th. It's a pride thing. smirk.gif
