Here Kitty, kitty kitty.....

Give credit where credit is due... the Twins were the hottest team in the majors, had the best home record and BAM... the smackdown was handed down at the homer dome! The kitties are rollin', they just have to hope they can win when it matters.... in the playoffs and World Series.

Classy post Buzz. And what a fun division to watch. The Twins are solid. I stated here a good while back that I was convinced the Kitties are for real. I don't see anyone taking the division from them now. There isn't any doubt in my mind the two best pitching staffs just faced off in this series. Bonderman is just dominant. But I was so impressed with Santana too. He clearly didn't bring his best stuff to the ballpark tonight, and he fought through it. It could have been 6 or 7 to nada when he checked out of the game. He showed a lot of courage out there tonight.

Both of these teams could make postseason without a trade IMO.

From a baseball standpoint what a great series for a fan to watch. I think it gave the Twins a good look at how much improvement they have made from the beginning of the season. Just got to keep winning and things will take care of themselves. Detroit, what can you say a very complete team and right now the best team in baseball lets see what shakes come October..how many people sat through all three games and did not give up on the Twins???? I watched. grin.gif

I thought it was a great series. I didn't get to see much of today's game, but it was obvious Santana didn't have much today (he was missing with everything), but he gutted it out and kept the team close. The first two were so close one big hit would have changed the outcome. The only difference I could really see between the two teams were in the basics. The tigers didn't miss one chance at a sacrifice, and the twins bunted hard to the third baseman about 20 feet away. A LOT of training in some of those basics need to be in the twin's future. Anyway, the best team on those days won. The best team also won the third game today. Extra outs usually make a difference with 2 good teams playing each other, and they did today. It ain't over yet! The Tigers could stop getting all those "seeing eye" grounders in the first play-off game and be out in 4. Long way to go....it'll be fun to watch. smile.gif

If you're a true baseball fan, you had to enjoy watching that series. There was some great pitching, great defense great hitting and great strategizing out there for the 3 games. Some errors, yes, but I don't think they overshadow the fact that two of the hottest teams in the majors were playing neck and neck.

The Tigers really quieted the Twins bats this series. I thought we would have slapped the ball around a little more, but the starters and bullpen for the Tigers did a fine job, as did the Twins with the exception of Radke IMO. Some people really like Radke, but I'm not one of them.

At any rate, it was a good measuring stick for the Twins this weekend. Personally, I thought the teams were just about equal, with a little bit of an edge going to the Tigers. Can't wait until they meet again!

We need someone (by trade) to bat for Cuddyer or we will be going nowhere come october.

Why should he not be in the line up???

Cuddyer got another game winning hit. He's 2nd on the team in RBI's.

The day before he had 3 Ks.

The day before that he was 0-4.

Soriano would look really good hitting in his spot.

Yes Soriano would look good in that spot but I highly doubt the Twins will make any moves today.

The best part of yesterday 8th inning was being able to read Jim Leyland mouth when he ran to the mound after Bonderman had the balk, "What the f*^k is going on here", that was classic.

What a great baseball weekend!

Wish I could have seen the Twin/Tiger series, BUT noooooo, I was stuck watching the Cubs SWEEEEEEEEP the Cards. And just for a bonus, I watched Jenks give it up to the O's in the ninth yesterday. Beeeeeeuuutiful!

One more week without Windy - I'm sure he knows what is waiting for him upon his return.

I was at the game on Saturday and it was great. Would have been better if Radke was a bit more solid, but the Twins scored some runs and made it interesting. The only thing I could think of when the Twins were scoring the runs to make it somewhat of a game was, "Why couldn't they score a couple of these on Friday night?"

Hopefully we get back on track against the Rangers tonight.

Tiger's just upgraded at the 1b position. This is a nice trade for the kitties.

sled,

If we get lucky enough to land Soriano. I believe he will be batting in the #2 spot. I remember seeing some stats where he just hasn't produced in the clean up spot. Then moved back to #1 or #2 and performed again. He will also steal 30+ bases a year.

If he doesn't go to the Angels he comes to the Twin's. Possibly LAD.

Geno - Congrats on the sweep. You guys have our number that's for sure was watching WGN Sunday and when Carp had his first at bat I heard a beloved Cubs fine yell out., "Carpenter you suck!" and so he did... I know your smiling... grin.gif

From ear to ear Tim......

Now, I just hope the sweep doesn't come into play by the end of the season to let the Reds slip in. Guess it doesn't matter much the way the Mets are playing though.

Tonight the Cubbies gotta go and start to put a hurtin' on the DBacks chances....all I've got to root for is being a spoiler AND whoever is playing the WSox.

Two games!? come on!! Let's look at the season

Why should he not be in the line up???

Slg % - 4th, BB - 2nd, RBI - 2nd, HR - 2nd(not a tuff one to be in 2nd, but none the less still 2nd), 3b - 1st, 2b - 2nd, H - 4th, Runs - 3rd.

These are not bad and you want to get rid of him, come on!! Too late now anyway, unless the twins would try getting him through waivers and that ain't happin!!

Im not saying get rid of Cuddyer. Im saying we need someone better in the clean up spot. Cuddyer's numbers arent impressive, the only reason he ranks high in team stats is because of how many atbats he has.

Ive just been getting sick of of seeing..... Castillo out, Punto hit (caught stealing-out), Mauer hit, Cuddyer K-out.

Cuddy is nothing special. He is putting up decent numbers this season for the first time in his career. They are also letting him play on a daily basis.

He is a pretty good fielder but is not a clean-up hitter, but is doing a decent job. It is easy to beat up Cuddy -- Gardy always does. grin.gif

Any predictions on the kitty series? I say a split, they might even win the series 3:1 if the bats come alive and their young arms come through. I just don't see a sweep happening...they aren't playing that good right now.

"they aren't playing that good right now" is a major understatement. We've lost 19 of our last 28. Haven't won a series in a long time. All three teams are in the same boat, with us having the advantage of a four game lead. Tigers released Dimitri Young yesterday after the game. That was a shock to all. Perhaps a call for the team to wake up? Hope it works. We've had way too much sucess to not make the playoffs. We still have the lead, as neither your Twins or the Sox have been real hot lately. Without a team going on a really hot streak, Tigers look pretty good.

Prediction, split. Hope we win two of the first three, so we don't have to beat Cy Young Santana.
