They have a bunch of chatterbaits, finally, at GM in Forest Lake.. in a bin as you walk into the store.. $7.99 (yikes!)

Can anyone fill us in on their uses and how to fish them? Do they primarily tartget bass? Or both bass and pike?

Fish them much like you would a spinnerbait. Great action and should put a lot of fish in the boat. Great for bass, but pike eat anything and the Chatterbait will be no exception.

I cant believe u guys are spending $8 bucks on those. You guys buy into the hype too easily. Just focus on the fundamentals of fishing and you will catch fish. Im not saying im a pro or anything but i hardly ever get skunked. Some days are good and some days are reaaaaal slow. Would things have changed if i were using gods gift to the fishing world the ol' chatterbait?..No

i too feel there is quite a bit of hype but we all have our baits and like one old timer said to me about chatterbaits "I have seen this before". This isn't the first time a lure will come around and recieve a ton of hype and then die down and it still will be around for about a 5 dollar bill. We will see this again. But every lure has its place and somedays it is just fun to catch them on what you like to fish. I have also wondered that if a lure catches fish down south (and the south style of fishing is where the hype comes from) does it still catch fish here in the north. Not as well in my opinion we have a different breed of fish up here. ike

i totally agree with ike i went down there a while ago i tryed fishin it like i did up here didnt work, down there i had a lot more success with artificial lures than i do up here, the bass do tend to grow to be quite a bit larger down there but its not totally different, up here the water is colder and you dont get to retrieve as fast so its not as hard

Senko- Would you say the same thing about the Senko???? Yes I too feel that hte chatterbait is a bit over hyped. However, I do feel it is a tool like all others and probably does have its application that it can shine.

Deitz - Yes i would say that the senko is over hyped also. I mean after all its just a worm and i bet that the 2.99 off brand senko would produce the same. I like to senko tho because i find its a little heavier and sinks faster than others.

I would agree that baits can certainly be over hyped but to say you would not have more or less fish depending on the lure or presentation I do not support. I have my top 5 go to baits and the Senko is on the top of that list.

Will the chatterbait in paticular be the next senko. Unlikely. Does in have excellent action that will produce strikes yes. Is it worth 8.00? Well that is entirely relative to what gives joy you and makes you happy.

Hey in today's world it is 50.00 each time I fill up my tank. Does that 50.00 in gas give me any happiness? Unless I headed to a lake with my boat behind me. NO.

Is the Senko overpriced/overhyped for the rate of return on the fish I catch. Heck no.

Brandon,

How goes it? Where in Lac Suel are you going? You know I love that lake, email me if you have and questions. I am going up again at the end of Aug. Hope all is well.

I'm actually looking forward to putting the Chatterbait to use up in Lac Suel in July. I'm sure those PIKE will love that bait!

The bait looks pretty deadly in the water. Just hope the fish think so too

8$ for a lure is not as expensive as you would think. Ever heard of a company called Lucky Craft? There is not one lure they make under the price of 15$ and thousands of people buy them every year. Some of the swim baits that you see guys in CA using to catch 15+ lb fish are 100$ or more. I just recently moved to Mn from down south. Several people down there make highly sought after hand made cranks that go for 25$ or more. Even here in MN a dozen willow cats will cost you 8$ and they die. So 8$ for a lure, big deal. Do I believe the chatterbait is the end all lure, absolutely not. The end all lure is Roland Martins helocoppter lure, wait no its one of those Simpson's lure I've seen in Cabelas, actually its DYNOMITE. Just kidding!
