lowrance color gps and sonar

somedays

Question

so what do you guys own?

had good luck with?

seen in action?

i am looking at the 334c @ $616

the lcx-20c @ $679

or the 337c for $669

the 334 is the new model and the lcx-20c is last years model? so what is different about them and then trow in the 337.

the lcx has a bigger screen but less pixcels, what is more important?

do they all have speed and temp?

do they all have the flasher on the side?

does the peak watts really matter? 2400 compared to 4000

20 degree cone is the best for walleye fishing?

i know i am anal but $700 is a chunk of change to spend on a graph and i want to be happy.

thanks

i would not shy from the 334 i have one and love it, had a little trouble in the beginning but i'll chalk that up to operator error. the lcx-20 is a good price but, i don't believe it comes with gps reciever and the pixels are a little lower than the 334,332.

thanks for replys. keep em coming

What cone size is best when most of your fishing is done 40' or less?

Is the dual frequency for interferance or for switching the cone degree?

thanks again

Of those choices, fishing MN lakes and rivers, I would go with the 334C (or the 332C if you are worried about the internal antenna at all). I've run the 332C for quite a while now and it's an excellent unit for a 5-inch combo. I would take pixel count/resolution over increased size. You lose some definition on the LCX-20C which won't hurt you on the GPS side but will decrease your opportunity to mark fish as well.

A 200khz, 20 degree cone is the best all-around transducer for the new Lowrance units, for freshwater fishing.

Don't get too worried about extra power. These new color units don't need a lot of extra power, especially for fishing inland lakes and rivers.

All the new Lowranc eunits come with temp in the ducer. DF units come with speed but if you're getting a GPS combo unit you can overlay the GPS speed over any screen, so you don't really need the extra speed wheel.

As for walleye fishing with the 332C or 334C, I can easily monitor a 1/4 once jig tapping off the bottom in 30 FOW. You won't be disappointed with the sonar on either of these units.

I also recently purchased a 332 and am impressed with it's performance.....

I'm debating which map chip to purchase, navionics or lakemaster?

Any personal preferences?....I'd be fishing primarily in Wisconsin

Jmac, The first thing I would suggest is to look at the lake list for both chips and see if one has more of "your" lakes than the other. You can find the Lowrance lakemaster list at lowrance.com and the Hotmaps Premium list at Navionics.com. Both are very good. A lot of Lowrance users like the ability to zoom in closer with the Lakemaster chip. To me, that's nice, but not as important as having "my lake" listed on the chip. I personally run the Navionics Premium North because I fish MN, IA, and SD but I'll be getting the new Lakemstaer MN for my personal use when the new release comes out this summer/fall (they surveyed West Battle Lake and I want that one).

IMo I would go with the Lakemaster chip, for wisc.

I have both the software and chip for Minnesota, awesome resolution. I know a couple of people that have the Wisc. Chipand they wouldn't fish without it either.

I'm looking at getting the 334c. I'm not sure if I need it though? I've got a decent Lowrance B&W fishfinder already. I also have the H20c. Do I need it? It would be nice to have all in 1 unit? Do I flip a quarter?
