waskawood
A co-worker has them and loves them. I would have gone that route but I have a tri-toon so they won't work.
HOF#13
You may want to check the sea legs HSOforum. They show a tri-toon with them on???
waskawood
Drat, too late now. Thanks for the info.
hawkeye43
We have them and love them. They will stick in a soft bottom. When you raise them up, the pontoon sinks a little deeper in the water then they pop free. No lift to put in and take out. Sweet
Woodland
What kind of money are we talking about for Sea Legs?? Is it comparable to a lift?
DTro
LOL, I went to, what I assumed, would be their HSOforum (just to see what it looks like) and found something else that would be a lot of fun to have

cylinder
Looks interesting. What's the cost?
TV BOY
I had them put on our 20' Tradition. So far they have had more use than the boat I debated back and forth- lift with canopy, or sea legs. After talking with a number of dealers and pontoon owners I went with the legs. It's easier to just come in near the dock and lift up, no need to guide onto a lift. That was the main reason my wife wanted them. I really haven't talked to anyone that said that they regret putting them on.
Jex
TV Boy, I noticed your location is listed as Rockville. We keep our pontoon boat at our cabin on Grand Lake. If you are on the lake maybe we can get together so we can check out the 'Leg installation. Drop me a line. djecha at mindspring.com
Jex
How about trailering? I just put it on a rental trailer in the spring and fall to take it to and from the storage site. Is there any problem with stability on the trailer?
TV BOY
I got the toon at Richmond marine. They sent the boat down to bloomington (where Tradition is located) to have the legs installed. They delivered it on a drop-down style trailer. It sits a few inches higher. I don't know if I'd get that style trailer if to be used more than a few times a year. marine_man
They do make the pontoon sit higher while trailering on a crank down style trailer.. but if you only trailer your pontoon to put the pontoon in and take it out I'd go for it... just make sure you tie it down good...The benefits outweight the disadvantadges IMHO...marine_man
quijibo
I took a look at these a while back and came to the conclusion that they probably do more damage than weed rollers. I have a few sunfish nests under my lift right now.I'm not trying to flame anything, but I lost interest when the salesman started talking about how handy they were for shallow water panfish fishing. Diesel D
Will they work with a trailer that lifts from the deck? They look like they mount right where the trailer bed lifts the boat.Anyone know?D
TV BOY
Yes that's how mine was delivered. They retract flat against the deck and the trailer rests on the legs which rest on the frame..The mechanic, who set it up and delivered it, recomended a bunk type of trailer if one is to lake hop vs the in and out once a year. Murdock
If the trailer type you are referring to is a scissors trailer, it will work, but I highly recommend against such practice. The square tubing of the scissor that lifts the pontoon rides under the legs that are retracted flat against the floor of the pontoon with not much room to spare on either side of the tubing. The risk is if you hit a bump or the wind picks up you cold possibly have the pontoon shift off the tubing, thus pinching the trailer's scissor between the legs and a pontoon. (Believe me, I've seen this happen twice, both times resulting in punctured pontoons and high repair bills.) Don't risk it. Buy or rent a bunk trailer for trailering pontoons. I've used the legs for two years and can't believe more people don't use them. If you are interested, I have a personal contact at the manufacturing and sales office I could put you in contact with. Great bunch of people, fair prices, good serice.
