A challenge!

I have a challenge for you..On one of your fishing days this upcoming season I challenge you to fish without using any toys. No graphs, no temp gages, no flashers or gps. Just your five senses. How do you think you would do?

The same as I always do, since I am usually wading a stream or shore fishing!

For panfish and Bass I would do the same. It is the crafty walleyes that I need the electronics or GPS on a large body of water like Milleacs to locate the mud flats and then target where they are on the flats.

Same as I always do as well since I never use electronics. I don't own a boat and rentals never come with the toys.

A good map is about all i use. It would be tough on Mille Lacs though, no shoreline to use for reference in the middle of the lake.

I did that yesterday shorecasting on Lake Superior. Challenge met.

I could do it in the spring pretty easy.. the temp gauge thing might help.. but not that big a deal.. You will not pry my GPS with Chip or depthfinder out of my hands come summer however!... I would even think of taking the chalenge! I like to catch fish too much'

Perhaps not as well, but I do fish a lot of weedlines for all species, and those I can see with my eyes, usually.

I will spend one day this summer on Anne Battle so that will be no problem because none of that is allowed.

Thats a hard one.Last winter I left home and turned around 15 miles to get my vex.Maybe for fishing in the spring but not in the summer.I would probably do poorly in the summer without the extras.

MNfishingguy, when are you fishing anne battle? I think I will get out there at least once this year. I have got some huge largemouths and bluegills in there!

BB, I have been out in a float tube catching nice crappies. Is the tube considered a "toy" or do you mean just electronics?

Cyber, I'll be there between July 24-28. My brothers wife's family has a cabin on Blanche which is connected to Anne Battle. I've never fished it before, care to share any tips?? I have an old eagle graph (I cannot remember the model) My boat was made back in '82 I would not be surprised if this graph was made prior to that ... I am probably better off by not using it.

I fished the lake around 4th of july weekend. I mainly just fished weedlines and flats. no particular depth I can remember. got the sunfish on plastic jigs. cannot remember what kind, it has been a few years. Also some on poppers. The Bass were on top water poppers and buzzbaits. I am going up there much earlier I think, but if I am in the area that late I will let you know!
