Comidas

Fleet Farm is selling Comidas for only $3.49 a bag. Buy them local and save on the shipping. That 20% discount seems to only be a good deal if you go over $75. Just my 2 cents.

bassn- I totally agree.. and actually if you buy them local you are helping keep them in the area as well... The only problem is they do not carry every color. I dont want someone to not try the Comida because its not at the store in the color that they want!...

Please, do buy from the local stores.. so that the local stores re-order!.. that is what we want.. If Mr.Twister sees a spike in sales, they will know its from FishingMinnesota!

Just so that everybody knows. Fleet Farm, and Gander stores will be carring the Comida. And some of the Fat Tubes, maybe some other limmited products. The deal though Fm is on EVERY product that Twister makes.

Glad you found them bassin1, once you have a chance to use them, let us know what you think!

I just got my discounted comidas today in the mail from Mister Twister today.. and FREE shipping.. I must have reached a certain threshold.. spent around $70.00.. but thanks for this post!.. I'll now run to FF tomorrow and see what else I can pick up... these look like really good lures. Sorted them and checked them all out.. am impressed. smile.gif

I have to say WOW on the Exude TUBES I got too.. Unreal colors and really an amazing texture. Can't wait to try these babies out. Very different than any store bought tubes I have tried in the past. Anxious to try out some blood red tubes I ordered.. haven't seen any like these in the past.

o.k. maybe i have been ice fishing too much and it has affected my brain, but what is a Comida?

The link Sylvester has above gives you some information. The Comida is Exude's version of a Yamamoto Senko or any type of soft plastic worm that is out there.

i thought you guys might get a chuckle out of this! i went to the small bait shop we have here.( in small town iowa!!) i walked in with a package of the senko type lure. i asked the gal if i could have some help finding what size split ring i needed/wanted to fit these.( for wacky rigging!!)this gal doesn't fish much!she was helpfull opening pkgs. til i found the perfect size, but the looks she was giving me as i slid them on to the middle of the lure , was hilarious! crazy.gif but i found the ones i needed! grin.gif

Deitz,

You rigging these "texposed"? What hook are you using - brand and size? I've been having a little trouble to get them to lay straight and after a few try's, I got a chewed up piece of plastic. I generally use a VMC EWG 2 or 3/0.

Eth- I am using a Mustad Mega Bite 4/0(37177BLN).. You should be albe to texpose it straight. You should use a hook that has a very aggresive bend near the eye to hold the plastic on..

I'll use 5/0 as well at times..

The mustad Megga Gap is my fave by far!

I have fished the Gamakatsu EWG 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 hooks. I fished these hooks on senkos and senko imatations and have never had a problem with them!

Dietz- Curious to know why Mustad over Gamakatsu? I go with Gammy's because I've been happy with them and I can get them at most places I shop. Sportsman's Warehouse in St.Cloud has em' in the 25 pack - no excuse to ever run out grin.gif

The reason is simple.. the Mustads hold the plastic on the hook better... if you look at the bend on the hook by the eye you will see on the mustad it actually makes a reverse bend...which locks the plastic to that spot somewhat.

Where on the gammie its just stright, I have problems keeping the plastics rigged right, they slip down on any little hang up and I spend way too much time re-rigging.

Thats just my opinion... hope you understand.. FYI, I also get the mustads in 25 packs.

I see why you use the Mustad over the Gatsu's. I to have that problem with Gatsu but thought that was standard with all hooks.

Why go with 4/0 hooks? Why not 2/0, 3/0, etc? Maybe that has been asked before?!?

I will use a 4/0 or 5/0 with bigger plastics, such as tubes, lizards, horny toads, brush hogs, and even comidas. The large hook, allows for the bulkier plastic to move free from the hook point on a hook set. If I'm using a smaller bait, or if the fish seem to be very hook shy, I may move down to a 3/0 or 2/0. It really varies by the size of the bait, that the main factor.

Deitz,

Those VMC's have the same reverse bend, which is why I switched from the Gami's. I guess I need a little more practice rigging crazy.gif, though I will give those Mustad's a try. (VMC is sold under the Rapala name)

On size, I've been rigging the fluke's (soft jerkbait) on the smaller hooks, then if I go to a Senko/Comida, just switch the plastic to save re-tying. I guess I should switch hooks too. No doubt I'll be using them both on Cheq. Bay next month wink.gif.

Either way, the reverse bend DEFINITLY holds the plastic better.

Nice disection of hooks, by the way.

looking at hooks the other day and saw some south bend in 10 packs for .77 cents a piece. I thought to my self, never heard of south bend that must be for a reason and decided not to buy. Any one ever tried these?
