I have been thinking about getting the ripcord. There are so many rest out now, any advice would be helpful.

I use a trophy taker and haven't had a problem with it. I had a Muzzy Zero Effect which was also nice. I also tried a Savage Derringer drop away which used a magnet to hold up the rest arm until you release the arrow. It worked well but the magnet fell out of it which made me leery of that happening while hunting so I bought the Muzzy.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Ripcord but I don't know much about it. I have a buddy with the Drop Zone which he likes quite a bit. Bottom line: if the rest is quality made from metal not plastic and is fairly simple in design (ie: works every time you shoot) and is set up to drop within a few inches of arrow travel at the release, you shouldn't have a problem.

I have a Trophy Taker and a drop zone and they both are great. i did have some problems with a NAP quicktune.

Trophy Taker here too. I bought it at the end of the season and haven't used it a whole lot, but I'm happy with it so far.

I've used a Trophy Taker Shaky Hunter for four years and been happy with it. I've recently switched to an AP Safari Twister and it's too soon to say. My bro used this same rest for this past season and really liked it. It's totally dummy proof and the arrow can not fall off the rest- no way possible.

I too have the Trophy Taker, shakey hunter and I really like it. Although I wish I could figure out a way to make it a little quieter. I've tried layering mole skin on the riser. I've also tried putting a small piece of mole skin on the part that stops the forward movement of the arrow support and it still isn't as quiet as I would like. Any of you folks come up with a solution?

I have put extra padding on the bow shelf and put a piece of neoprene between the loop that holds the string on the rest arm. On the 2002 Bowtech Patriot Single-cam I've got, the rest is quiet. On my backup Darton Yukon, the rest still seems a bit noisier but it could just be the difference in bows themselves. Best I could suggest is try different materials as padding and find the best one that makes it the most quiet. I have thought about adding one of LimbSavers tiny limb-savers onto the rest body or as padding for the rest arm because the LS rubber is pretty soft. DISCLAIMER: this hyar discussion about noise should not turn anyone away from the trophy taker. It is a great rest.

If you want a full arrow containment type rest that is a drop away you either need to go with the ripcord or the QAD Ultra rest. They are very similar rests. I have one pro shop that recommeds the ripcord, and one that recommends the QAD to me. I'm still shooting a wisker biscut now because there is NOTHING to break while hunting. I have to admit, I'm really struggling to stick with the biscut because everyone who has drop aways seem to love them. As one shop owner said to me.. (as I was about to purchase the QAD from him) "Your rest should be the simplest thing on your bow. Nothing should have the chance of breaking. I'd stick with your biscut" And that's what I've done so far.

I'm on my second Zero Effect. Sold my first one with my previous bow. I switched from a regular prong (can't remeber which one I had) because I noticed my vanes would sometimes tick the rest. I also lost a chance at a nice buck because it made a tiny bit of noice while drawing back once (yes I had some teflon silencers on it).

Personally, I think the Zero Effect is the best hunting rest. It's large enough to add mole skin right on the rest for drawing back quietly. I also like the large arm on the one side in case I'm a bit shaky when drawing back on that big buck. Also, like the fact that it connects right to the string.

My complaints with it would be that it is tough to make small adjustments with it. Once I get it dialed in I haven't had to adjust it ..... yet! The only problem I had was that I didn't tighten it up enought on the string when I installed it but that was operator error!

I have a friend who complained about his biscuit wearing out and he was planning to go back to a trophy taker after hunting season was over.

I'm not sure about the other rests because I haven't used them.
