Nah!! Its not time to start paying to access this site, that is what makes it great.

However, by supporting some of our sponsors here at Fishing Minnesota, you are helping to keep this site free for everyone to enjoy.

With ice fishing now in full swing, a simple purchase from Custom Jigs & Spins, JB Lures, Scenic Tackle, Today's Tackle, TackleCity or any of the other sponsors will go along way! Click on the "FM Sponsors" link in my signature to learn more about some of FM's sponsors.

We're experiencing some growing pains right now but Rick and the crew will get things running smooth quick.

I can second that! I just dropped $90 on SOS after hearing about them for a long time and seeing them in Dakota Country magazine. Framing catches with them on the ice does nothing for me though. That could be staged so easily it's screams "Marketing".

I thought I could do it cheaper at a hobby shop but online aquarium plants aren't that cheap. The extension cord wraps I've got. But really...I just got to lazy to run all over and pick up the stuff to do it. Besides...my time is worth something and I'd rather be fishing.

Now, how do I get myself to sit in one place long enough to use them?

Paul,

Does FM get any type of credit from the sponsors for purchases made through the web site? I usually make my purchases at brick & mortar stores, but if it will help FM with the sponsors I'll start doing more of my purchases on line.

Smmurphy,

I dont think that FM gets any direct kickback from buying sponsor products. But the indirect is huge. If they see thier sales growing, they can know its because of FM! As long as thier sales are good, they stay with us, and if they let other companies know how we have done for them we then attract more sponsors.

Time to maybe charge a fee for this site. I get a lot of good info from it but man has it been a pain in the arse lately with it being sooooo slooooow. If my 10 bucks will let this baby get a bigger whatever the heck it needs, it would be worth it!

That why the site has sponsors, and merchandise it sells. it has revenue coming in. how much I don't have a clue. But rest assured between sponsorship and merchandise there are a few dollars being taken in.

I bet anyone if you start charging to get access to this site you are going to lose alot of people and when you lose alot of people, the sponsors are going to lose alot of customers too and before you know it no more sponsors and no more FM. Alot of my buddies including myself depend on sites like this to let us know what products is out there and fishing infos. I think when we buy something from the sponsors of FM's, FM do get a little of something, like advertising on this site. I think you do have to pay to advertise on any sites out there. Alot of product I've bought for fishing and hunting are sponsors of FM. I don't know how good FM's business is doing but I know that this site is very helpful for alot of peoples out there. So guys of FM"S, keep up the great work and thanks alot for creating a site like this one for the people of Minnesota and others. I hope this site just gets better over the years to come and be the same, NO CHARGE.

First off, I hope nobody thought my post was directed at the people running this fine site. What it did tho, is given us ideas on how to keep it running better by supporting our sponsors on the site. That was my intent, more money/ fee, a better running forum. My last trip to Mille Lacs was totally planned on hearing info from here. It has been a great place to share info. My frustration came from the fact that I had to get online at off peak times to gather info. I know they are working hard on it and am thankful for the work they do. Good fishing everyone!

Where else can you get so much local fishing information so quickly? My only regret is that I just learned about the site a couple of months ago. Hopefully, Cabela's, Sheels, and Gander Mountain are sponsors. If not, they should be. I've recently bought equipment from all of them, and would not have done so without FM. My next purchase will be some JB lures; I know they are sponsors. Thanks for the great site.

MJG- thank you.. and we are doing our best to fix the problem.. It hopefully should be done today.

B Kayak- unfortunalty none of those stores are Sponsors of FM, however, if you bought products that are sponsors of FM you did help. And just by being a member of FM even though its free, and contributing to the boards is a great help!

Thorne Brothers is a sponsor of FM and of cours our own online store http://outdoorProStore.com/ is deffinatly a sponsor!

The sponsors and your purchases from fishingmn are what keeps it running! There is getting to be so much traffic on the site it has to be upgraded and that takes $$$$. It is hard to believe how much more traffic there is now compared to when Rick started fishingmn way back when. It takes a lot of work for Rick to keep it running smoothly.

Thanks Rick and all the others that are involved in this great site! Don't forget to tell your friends about fishingmn! grin.gif

Well I just did a little more of my part. I just bought a bunch of Scenic Tackle Jigs, JB rattlen' varmits, and a bunch of the new stuff from todays tackle. After seeing Hanson's tackle pouches and how neat they made everything. The best part was I bought them using the FM store. It is way more convenient for me to order them online rather than for me to drive to Fargo where the nearest sporting good stores are located (for me) that carry these items. Then once I get to those stores there is probably a VERY good chance I won't get what I wanted anyhow. If it is for sale on the FM store it is a good product. I have never been disappoint yet with a purchase. Support the site sponsor because if they are a sponsor it is a quality product or else it wouldn't be here. As mention the $$$$ comes from the sponsors. Boy all that talk of sponsors maybe I better get ahold of Thorne Bros and order some new rods hum which should I get this time smirk.gif.

IFF-that is a hog walleye you got in your avitar.. I will never forget watching you pull that baby up!

FYI, watch out for those rattling varmits, I have fallen head over heals in love with the things... I placed a small order for them, then ended up placing a second order for more just incase I loose 1 or 2... Them babys are sweet... and as you stated you cant go wrong with the Todays Tackle stuff either!

Ya it was a blast to get it. We are working at putting another trip together for up there in Feb. to go after some more SUMOS. Thats why I ordered some of the BIG Scenic Tackle jigs. Like the gentleman and the end of the video said "Let's do it again". Well I am going to do it again I hope.
