Layering is the way to go.

I personally use the same pants and parka for Fall-Winter-Spring.

I have an un-insulated Columbia Titanium parka I picked up on sale at the outlet mall for $69 and I have Cabelas dry-plus pants-suspenders I picked up for $59 about 5 years ago.

I typically layer underneath with long johns made of polypropylene or other comfortable wicking fabric.

Over that will go a wool or fleece shirt/pullover and fleece/wool pants.

Then a heavier fleece pullover. Then on goes the Dry plus pants. A Heavy fleece zip-up and then the parka.

I can then take off clothes as the day warms up and put them back on as it cools off to stay perfectly regulated.

If you just want something you want to use for snow blowing and the occasional ice fishing trip there are plenty of options available, Ice Armour being one of those options.

i use a pair of thermal fleece underpants and layer them with a pair of military pants, they shed snow, dirt, and almost are waterproof and are very warm....so if you see some sucker running around in marine digital desert camo pants that is me...ahah

I bought the suit this year. I've had my eye on it for the last couple of years. I have been out the last two weekends and I sure am glad I purchased them.

I checked an compared suits that were simular to the ice armout but they were like 400 to 500 bucks. the padded seat is nice the padded kness are great. They are water proof and wind proof. I'll use em for snowmobiling as well.

Sure beats the old carhart bibs i used to wear.

I definatly would reccomend them.

DITTO THAT!

The suit can be used for spring, summer and winter so it is a multipurpose jacket/bibs in my book. I tested up in Canada last winter during -0's degree's and kept toasty. Used my outfit this past spring during walleye opener up in Duluth. I kept plenty warm/dry during the weekend. I also used the suit on bass opener this year as well. Again stayed dry and warm!!

This is my second winter with my outfit and am VERY happy that I bought them. You can truely act as a walking fish house....no lie!

The padding in the knees and seat area are great too.

I would recommend this suit to anyone... it is the real deal for serious ice anglers!! Before getting my Ice Armor, I thought my Columbia gear was great, but after hole hopping in this set-up, this old gear will be hanging in the closet. It is twice the cold weather gear hands down from anything I have worn. The stuff is bomb proof.... windproof, waterproof, and padded in the right places to make fishing more comfortable!!

I'd have to say no way Jose. 2 different folks I know had the stiching on the neoprene cuffs come apart on their sets last year.

Get yourself a real gore-tex suit for that kinda money, not some made in south Vietnam knock-off. Better yet spend a bit more and get the top shelf gore-tex stuff thats been around awhile and most all the pros wear. Insulated and uninsulated versions of these top quality Gore-tex parkas and bibs are availiable too.

Padded knees, suppose they got a drop seat in em too then eh! grin.gif

I heard they made some improvments over last years "model".

I found it at reed's in Brainerd on Sunday. for the $250 price.

I purchased it today at Scheels in St. cloud they have it for $299 but upon asking they called and verified price and cheerfully sold it to me for the $250 price. I now need to find a size small enough for my girlfriend.

The only plus I have seen to them is that you can use them for different seasons and adjust your layering to suit the needs but for real true cold conditions I prefer a suit that was made to handle them without losing my mobility by bulking up in many layers . I could put on a rainsuit and bulk up in layers to stay warm but I lose mobility .In comparing them to my personal Choko Trail Rider suit in winter conditions the blue suit of ice armour did not match up to the quality, mobility and all round warmth I have and its why I think the suit of blue is over rated especially with the 300 usd price sticker and I have more for less coin with mine but I'm also one who has the clothes to adjust to seasonal changes . I have two friends who sold theres now after we compared and it was for the reasons I mentioned and not because they were junk .

I like all the input, pros and cons.

I ordered mine yesterday, I will give a review after my first trip. As far as being a waste of money, so are my Saturday nights at the local tavern grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

I layer up and if I am concerned about the cold toss on the Gander rain gear. Its wind proof and goretex. That suit really seals the deal warmth-wise. I bought the whole suit, coat and bibs, when it was being clearanced for less than 110.00 and can wear it all year.

I say two thumbs up, also!!!!

I love it for all the reasons mentioned in the above posts…

I would recommend it to anyone. I do wish it came in different colors though. When fishing tournaments every one looks the same. I have had mine since the year they came out and have not had one bit of trouble. If they have made improvements better yet.

I tried it on and it feels comfortable I just wish it wasn't only blue. I felt like a Giant Smurf. But if it keeps me warm and comfortable then it's worth the cash.

To be a true Smurf, you'd have to put on a pair of white tights over those bibs...that would be funny to see grin.gif

You won't be mad that you bought the suit! You'll appreciate it's waterproof and windproof abilities in those REAL cold conditions.

Right you are cap'n, not true Smurff's at all but true Smurff 'clones'!!! grin.gif

Another school of 'clones', the blue man group 'clones' {groupies} must vogue it up in brite blue suits while also running around on the ice with old school inferior electronic products in a perpetual state of denial to the obvious.

Just razz'n you cap'n, you don't fit either mold at all.

So I tried out the ice armor for the first time last night, I am so far pleased with my purchase. I was able to freely move around, I didn't get wet with all the surface water, the seat cushioning was not being we had plastic chairs, when I was neeling over the holes adjusting the depth finder that was comfortable, and most importantly I stayed warm. I would say I am not upset with the $250 I spent. Now if I can only find a good pair of gloves that are warm and sensitive enough to feel the small bites.
