Cabela's brand vs Carhartt

I was wondering if anyone has owned the Cabela's type of Carhartt work jackets,and how they compared to the Carhartt brand jacket?

I've had the Carharts for years...both the coat and the bibs...for work applications and really think they are plenty. I have looked at the Cabelas gear in the same and can't say that I thought they would, or could, do better.

In the field you may find the Cabelas gear a bit softer to wear, but Carhart's ruggedness is historic.

I agree with Tom. The Carhartt copies never are as tough as the original. You might save a buck up front, but not in the long run...

I also have had Carhartts for years. But I buy Cabelas brand name gear whenever I can. I buy only Cabelas boots and coats now and have never been disapointed. In fact the wife and kids know that all I want for christmas is Cabelas Guide Gear Parka and bibs.

If it makes a differnce to you, I believe all Carhartt clothing is made in USA, Cabela's clothing is made in China...

I've had a Cabelas canvas barn coat for 3 years?

I just wore it this morning. It's in great shape. I wear it alot but not to work in.

Carhartt is made in Mexico

I bought a hooded coat of the same design at Fleet Farm. I wear it when I'm running the snowblower or changing the oil in the winter and it has stood up well.

Actually, some of the stuff is made in Mexico of USA components, their clothes I believe (t shirts, shirts,pants)

Their workwear and outerwear is still made in the USA, by Union labor.

I'm looking to order some carhartt bibs and I'm wondering if you guys that have them had to buy your normal "jeans" waist size or did you upsize some for the bibs? If you order your normal size is there enough room for jeans underneath?

Get your bibs at least 2 sizes bigger than usual. Best bet is to go try some on. Depending on wich type you buy they run a lot different.

By the way Duckslayer I will pay more for quality American Union Made Products any time!
