pikerliker
I am so tired of being on the losing side of increadible finishes in football games. The gophers will never be a national power. They are losers and always will be. There is no way they should have lost that game today against Wisconsin, yet they found a way to do it. It happens year after year, season after season and I for one am sick and tired of getting my hopes up, and then watching them fail time and again. Everybody has a bad season now and again, but the gophers make a career out of it. This would have (and should have) been such a huge win for the university following the victory over Michigan last week (which by the way will be our last for the next 16+ years). But we follow it up with multiple blunders at the end of a game that was in hand with the grand finally being the punter fumbling the ball, getting his kick blocked into the end zone for a touchdown, and then our return man on the ensuing kickoff fumbling the ball just to make sure to crush any hope of a hail mary pass. Between the gophers and vikings I want to go blow my lunch right now. If I offended any gopher fans too bad! I for one am tired of going to the "mediocraty bowl" every year for the teams like ours that get 4 wins agains teams like Florida Atlantic and then go sub 500 in the big 10 every year to get their 6 or 7 wins.~piker
Matt Johnson
It should have never came down to the last minute of the game, the Gophers should have put them away much earlier than that. Stupid penalties caused the Gophers a couple much-needed TDs. Then the punter forgets he has to catch the ball before he can kick it...Maroney deserved a win today with his performance...Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
H.Hughes
Take the Safety........
Deitz Dittrich
I agree, he should have just thrown it out the back of the endzone. give them 2... then kick it off with 20+ seconds?
VMS
What I feel is that the call was definitely blown by the coaches on this one. Think about it. Two times they had 4th and 1 and they went for it...Successful both times. I feel they had a strong enough running game they could have gotten it. The worst they would have come out if they did not make it maybe would have been a field goal. The Safety would have even been better yet. Run around in the end-zone for as long as you can to take time, then fall or run out the back. The safety would have been the safest play of all. Just heart wrenching listening to it... Dumb mistakes...again. I am a Gopher Grad, so I am not offended in any way...in more ways than not I agree...BUT...the program is steadily improving. We just got to get the mistakes dealt with.Steve
DTro
The call to punt the ball was the right one. Think about the odds of it being blocked.Having said that, the real mistake was not emphasizing enough that if there was a problem, toss it backwards into the stands.Punting was the right decision. Mitty
Totally agree with you guys this one Mason has to take total blame.I feel sorry for the kid that dropped the ball he will never forget it, but where were the coaches, they have to be aware of every situation at that time of the game. riverrat56
Punting was the right decision, but someone should have told the punter A. if something goes bad take the safty B. he should have just gotten tackled and given us a chance in OT after a feild goal or at least a chance to stop them. I honestly could not believe it, it was unreal.
fishyguy
According to a quote I read, the punter knew to take a safety but said he could not see the Wisconsin player and thought he could get the punt off.
outdoor ran
Wow, what a game. From a badger fans point of view. Gotta feel bad for the punter, bet he has a tough week in school. With psu going down, the big ten is up for grabs.
