I get the fever in early September and show symptoms until mid December. I bow hunt alot, but there is still something about rifle hunting that gets me fired up...probably the rut. Also going to the Milk River in Montana on Thanksgiving week...I imagine I will really have the fever that week grin.gif Good luck to all!!

I've definately got the fever...bad. Just a few minutes ago I was tinkering with my bow/gear and watching a bow hunt in Saskatchewan on the outdoor channel. I haven't been out bowhunting yet because I keep too busy salmon fishing and duck hunting but I'll be out this next week sometime and won't stop til I have my pope and young and a mature doe...if it takes all season so be it, but I love it! I don't get into gun season as much as I used to cause I like the added challenge and quietness of bowhuting. Too many nuts out there with guns. It's tradition though so I'll be hanging out at dad's deer camp in November. I'm not going for the hunting...the neighbors shoot everything they see and the quality of hunting has declined sharply over the years but it's the time spent telling stories and watching videos of previous hunts and the food that I'll be looking forward too. That's my fever.

You have to post about your trip to Milk River when you get back. After watching the Realtree crew go there every year and have such good success it on my list of places to go.

It will be my 4th year going to the area. Last year was our first with buck tags....and we have buck tags this year again. I only ended up with a 6 pointer last year. Had to shoot it on the last day. It did have a 17 inch inside spread and had a few point broken off. Anyway, bad luck was on my side the whole trip. I had chances at (4) 140-150 inch bucks in one day...do you think I could get a shot. Oh well. I could tell you stories for a day on all my bad luck. Anyway the hunting is awesome. In 6 days I seen at least 50 bucks with 8 or more points. Mostly 2 and 3 year olds. And I settled for a 6 point. But I did make an awesome shot on him at 350 yards. Thought he was bigger.

I finally know what this buck fever is all about! This will be my first year out at deer camp with all the new in-laws and I didn't understand the "Hype" that surrounded it fully. This past weekend, I went out with my two brother-in-laws to the gun range to site in our slug guns. I heard the horror stories of a slug thru a 12 ga. so I opted to pick up a 870 20 ga and a slug barrel (Good excuse to get another gun) When I pulled the trigger for the first time and shot my first slug, I caught the initial symptoms of buck fever! 7 boxes of slugs later, I left the range confident in how my slugs shoot and chomping at the bit for the first weekend in November. We are hunting up around Ashby and it's intensive harvest there....so, I hope to see plenty and at least get one so I can learn the art of gutting. laugh.gif

BTW....I did get a chance to shoot a couple of slugs through a 12 ga....and man, I am glad I didn't pick one up...7 boxes would have left me extremely sore!

Yea, the gun season is getting close. Going outdoor to my treestand for a bow hunt and getting chills up my spine and hair is driving me nuts. while in my stand, I'm just thinking about last year's gun season of the do's and don'ts. I did miss a buck last year that should of been mine, he caught me moving when I shoulder my gun. Maybe this year will be different.

Do I have the Fever? Heck, yeah. I was dreaming of pulling a monster of a buck out of the woods the other night. Man, I was sweating the whole night from that dream. Now my but crack has developed a rash from all those sweats.

How was that for getting the fever?
