Bobby Bass
I think today was a case for Brad Johnson to get a start at OB I don't blame the o line nor the D I do blame DC and Moss... how can I blame Moss cuz he is gone and now DC has to play aganist more then just cover 2 and he can't handle it.. 6 years of seeing nothing but cover 2 and now they are coming after him with every thing but. Time to give Brad a start before the season goes down the tubes and DC spends it learning. Glad I am not a season ticket holder to watch this I think it is going to get ugly before it gets better. Of course it is never going to happen. Brad is the back up and DC is the QB but I would sure like to see it given a try.
H.Hughes
DC deserves to be benched after today, bring him back after the bye.
lawdog
GOING TO GET UGLY?????!!!!!Holy smokes, you mean today wasn't ugly yet?? 27-0 at half and 5 INT's from a supposed Pro-Bowler and its not even ugly yet? Good grief, this team has just freed up one heck of a lot of Sunday afternoon hunts for me this fall! They stink!
JIvers
I agree that Culpepper deserves to be benched, if only to give him a chance to recover his cajones...but I don't think Johnson would make much of a difference to the team as a whole. The INTs and fumbles are on Culpepper and his decision-making, but the constant pressure he faces is not. The play-calling and offensive line play has been almost as bad as Culpepper, and I don't see how putting Johnson in would help. He was never the most mobile QB, and he was always prone to injury. Culpepper was at least quick enough the last two weeks to at least get out of being sacked even more often than he was, whereas Johnson is slower, and would get pounded in there. I doubt that Johnson would have lasted a full game last Sunday or today, given the inability to run the ball and the non-stop blitzing.
Bobby Bass
DC has shown that he can not read the D what good is runnning around and then tossing INT's Brad has faced more then just cover 2 d over his long career. Just saying moving the ball down the field or even a few sacks is a hell of a lot better then turning the ball over in your own end and giving a short field to score on and making your D play 65% of the game. Don't care how good or bad you are you will get lit up!!! I thought today was christmas!!!
IFallsRon
D. Culpepper is the revenge of Denny Green. Some national media dork said Friday that if Arizona didn't win this week that DG would be a commentator on ESPN next week.Z. Wolf is realizing that the franchise he purchased valued near the bottom of the NFL is worth less today. Used-car salesman R. McCoombs wins again. SledNeck
Might aswell start Brad Johnson, Culpepper refuses to use his ability to run...instead he'd rather force INTs or stay in the pocket until he fumbles.Holy dump, its like the 41-0 NFC championship game every weekend!!!!!!!! Born2Fish
Yeah today was a pathetic example of how futile our whole team is. Not only was our offense just plain dump, our defense couldnt hold em to anything. I was praising these new players and now im not too sure about it. Our DB's look lost at times and our D line isn't producing like it could. Im not sure if the team needs time to gel or whatever, but something has to be done soon or else it looks like a top 10 pick again this year...And if thats the case i say we draft Matt Leinert! Geez how an 0-2 start can bring on such thoughts.....
NAPAFISH
Brad Johnson??? He has the mobility of a guy in a wheelchair. (though he does have a super bowl ring). He would get killed. They had a chance to beat Tampa. Today they were awful. The offense needs to look in the mirror. Lots of stupid mistakes. Maybe they should roll Dante out?? play-action once in a while?? (mind you this is tongue and cheek) If we cant move it passing, Run the wishbone, run an option play, mix it up.When your defense plays the majority of the game, they will look lost, tired fatigued what not. Imgaine of we had our 2004 defense eesh!!! 56-8?????
james_walleye
It wasnt just Dante that stunk yesterday, it was the whole team. Offense and defense. Fred Smoot said last night that the right players are in place for this team too be successful. Is he hinting that the coaching is the problem? You have too wonder, i mean that team looked liked they were watching the flintstones all week and not watching any film on the bengals. They looked horribly unprepared too play a game. CodyDawg
Those that are saying that Brad would get killed because he is less mobile are missing the point I think. He wouldnt get killed cuz he no longer would have the ball. Brad would read the defense and throw to the hot read. Did you guys listen to the commentators point out time and again how there WERE open receivers downfield, but Daunte couldnt find them. I think you just saw Daunte exposed as the fraud he is. He is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and defenses understand that and blitz him. He is not quick enough to figure it out and is forced to get sacked or run for his life. Don't forget, Daunte is no where near a .500 record as a starter, he is well under that. Hard to believe, but it is true. Does anyone remember the 3 or 4 game streak that Frerotte put together? He was awesome. Then he goes back to the bench and DC plays the rest of the year....hmmmmm. I am not as concerned about the defense. They looked bad, but occasionally that will happen and with an offense as bad as ours, it tends to snowball rather easily. Give them a solid offense and reduce their time on the field from 65% to 40% and you might be surprised. Although I must admit, you should prolly bold the word "might" in the last sentence. And I spent my birthday watching those clowns. Also, this is not a professional team. I have been a big backer of Tice, but I cannot ignore it any more. He does not run a professional operation. His time here is over.
IFallsRon
Culpepper has been exposed for the accuracy fraud that he is. Without Moss to haul in the fair-catch bombs, he has nothing more than small hands and a fat contract.
Stratosman
Maybe if we gave him another raise he would play better?
united jigsticker
Well, there were wide open recievers and DPEP didn't find them. However, a quick fix would be to send Williamson deep a few times. The kid is supposed to be FASTER then RANDY "blue moon" MOSS, so what are they waiting for?We drafted the kid to use as a decoy? He's not a decoy. When we kicked Packers A S S in the playoffs last year, you could feel the energy through the TV.I didn't feel anything yesterday except frusteration. And, if we start the rookie Marcus Johnson again, well, then we don't learn from anything.
