Fish'n guy
Hey Ortonville, I will be out by Bentsen Lake on the Berdan Farm. Actuallly I think that the Hipples have the geese landing in their wheat so that is probably where I will be hunting. I live 200 miles away so I haven't really been able to scout the area at all but it sounds like the geese are around there. Where are you going to be hunting? ortonville
fish-n-guy,i think i will be hunting east of town. it just depends on what we see tonight.there are a couple of fields that are full of geese.in the bentson lake area but some local farm kids have just about all the fields locked up. i shouldnt say kids i guees just a lot younger than me. they both grew up on a farm just south of bentson lake.and then they go and get permissoin for every field that they can. when they all ready have private land to hunt that there mom owns. it kind of makes me mad.but i guess thats life and they do send a lot of time and money on goose hunting.if a person gets permissoin for a field next to them they put out all of there decoys which is like 15 or 20 dozen full bodies and you can not compete with them so it makes it hard. more power to them if they have to be greedy. good luckk tommorow

Fish'n guy
Ortonville, I know what you mean. Its the same way down hear in southern minnesota because all of the good fields are locked up with hunters who have tons of decoys, and are skybusters !!! Although I know plenty of people who I can hunt with and we always kill plenty of birds so that makes it a little less stressful. I guess there are lots of geese landing out in the wheat field that we are going to hunt so I am excited. Hope that your hunt goes well tommorow along with everybody else's!!! GOOD HUNTIN!!!! Quackaddict9
kind of the same situation here too but I had asked for permission for one field where I will be hunting and gives me permission then about 3 days ago I find out from my cousin that someone told him they have a great field and asked him wheres that and thats the same field we had asked for permission so its quite a competition here... My cousin told him we had permission too and he was like confused so we will be arriving to the field 3:30-4 and sleep for awhile. Otherwise if they get there first I have another field to hunt in so thats kind of nice. Good Luck tomorrow
eyepatrol
I'll be hunting on the water here at Gaylord. Only a 1/4 mile boat ride from my dad's back yard, so that's nice. We've got some geese in the area, but it doesn't appear to be as many as in years past. Still will be nice to get out. Anticipating getting some to look at us and hopefully come in, but if they don't, that's alright. I just want to be out there with my brother, gun, decoys and call to enjoy it. Pretty much use the early season as a warm-up to the waterfowl season. Last year we got 7 geese during the early season, so that's real nice. I know some groups will shoot 40 or 50 in a weekend, but I'm happy just to get one or two if the opportunity is there.Got a jerky maker for Christmas last year, so I'm hoping to use that and see what goose jerky would taste like!Good luck to all and make it a safe and enjoyable weekend!
