muskybuck
Favre is looking awesome this year. Probably headed for another MVP.
fishyguy
He has looked good but I think he may be 3rd in line for QB's behind Culpepper and Manning. Let's not also forget guys like Tomlinson, Holmes (if healthy), McNabb, etc... who also may have a say in the MVP race. It should be a fun season to watch all these guys though. MJR
Recently spent some time in the shadow of Lambo field, I tried to say Bret Farve as often as I thought of it and it turned out I said it about half as much as the locals. Not rippin on them as they are about the nicest bunch of people you will run across in any town, just an observation.MVP, he would have a better chance at it if he were paid for his current ability rather than past ability so they could hang onto some more of thier free agents as well as pick some up. otto_man
yeah, another MVP for sure!! i caught a little of the Vikings game the other night and saw the same thing from the Packers last year. Sharper out of position and getting burned for a touchdown. some things never change!

Green&Gold
Good one Buzzsaw. I'll bookmark this thread so I know where to find your suggested avatar should this season go south. I'm optimistic however, with our offense still intact and hoping that we can get our defense healthy. It should be an interesting year for both of us. JH PS - If I was a crafty picture poster, I would find a pic of Favre making that linebacker look silly last Saturday night.

I know Sharper is quite an upgrade from Willie Offerd or whoever the deadbeat was we had back there. Packers finaly offered Bubba Franks what he was worth and he signed. buzzsaw
G & G, I agree, it should be interesting to say the least... high expectations in Minny and motown while the Packers defend their division title.... put a fork in the Bears. I EXPECT the Vikes to win the division, Detroilet second, pack third, Bears at the bottom. We will see how things shake out.
Green&Gold
Buzz, I think it will go either the Vikes or the Pack taking the division. As we all know, the Vikes look good on paper and have made the right moves in the offseason. They SHOULD have the talent to win the division. Nevertheless, I still won't count Favre and the Pack out. If Bates upgrades our defense from 25th even up to 17th or so, our offense should be good enough to get us by. As for "Detroilet," I still don't think they'll win more than 8 games as long as they stick with Harrington. And of course, Grossman going down solidifies the fact that "the Bears still suck." MJR, where did you hear the scoop on Bubba? I stay pretty informed and I hadn't heard that as of this morning. Not that I doubt you, but if you're right, you just made my day. ...I spoke too soon. I just saw the story on the Pack coming to terms with Bubba on NFL.com. Thanks MJR.
muskybuck
I expect the Packers to beat the Vikes both regular season games. I do not expect either team to be very good. Neither team has a coach worth his pay check. The Vikes still need a clutch quarterback.

They need a QB like Favre who can throw 4 INTS at home in the playoffs against his own teams biggest rival. Thats how ya do it in the clutch. I'll take my chances this year with a retooled vikings defense rather than the same crew of puds that got worked over up and down the field last year with a new D coordinator as the packers are going with. Viking fans could not have asked the club too have done anymore with an offseason. Looks like too me the window for the vikings is opening and the window is closing on the pack, dont know how else too put it.
SledNeck
Favre is the most overrated qb in the history of the NFL. He can throw a bazillion picks and they keep saying how he is supreme qb overlord of the universe. Whats it going to take for them to say...he, maybe this guys is only as good as his current numbers. Its not that I root against Favre...okay I lied, ya I do, ...but its silly when better qbs get talked about less than brett favre.
Dave B
In his prime Favre was decent, now I dont even know if he is in the top 10 of QBs in the league. Weird on one hand you are talking about history (a career) and then you immediately move into the present. If you are talking career I'm not sure how you can say he's overrated. Have you looked at where he stands in NFL record books on things? Sure his INT may be high, but given what is asked of him and what he returns in TD and leadership I think it's a fair trade. Compare him to 2 other prolific passers and he is right in line with them. A little worse on the INT, but a little better on the TDs.Marino 1 INT/33 attemptsElway 1 INT/ 32 Favre 1 INT/ 31Marino 1 TD/20 AttemptElway 1 td/24 Favre 1 td/18Now in regards to the present you also have to remember that the NFL is in the entertainment business and right now as it has been for a few years now Brett Favre is one of their most marketable stars they promote. So I think its only reasonable that we get bombarded about how good he is, even though one can get sick of hearing it. When Favre retires, it will only be moved on to the next player and we'll get sick of hearing about them as well.

I will easily give you Manning, Culpepper, Brady, and McNabb as being ahead of Favre. After that I think there are a handful of guys, that depending on who is looking at it and what they take into consideration could be put at #5. As far as your list though Vick, Brees, and Pennington don't even belong with the rest of your names you have mentioned in the top part of your list. And your 'maybe even' list, "Brooks & Rattay" Are you serious?"
